8. Parnassos Ski Center KellariaParnassos Mount Parnassus is a mountain of limestone in central Greece that towers above Delphi, north of the Gulf of Corinth, and offers scenic views of the surrounding olive groves and countryside. According to Greek mythology, this mountain was sacred to Dionysus and the Dionysian mysteries; it was also sacred to Apollo and the Corycian nymphs, and it was the home of the Muses. The mountain was also favored by the Dorians. It is suggested that the name derives from parnassas, the possessive adjective of the Luwian word parna meaning house, or specifically temple, so the name effectively means the mountain of the house of the god. 10. Thermopylae MuseumThermopylae Leonidas at Thermopylae is an oil on canvas painting by French artist Jacques-Louis David. The work currently hangs in the Louvre in Paris, France. The massive painting has the dimensions of about thirteen feet by seventeen and a half feet and was completed in 1814. The convoluted piece took David almost fifteen years to complete, with him separating his work into two periods from 1799 to 1803 and 1813-1814. Leonidas at Thermopylae was purchased, along with The Intervention of the Sabine Women, in November of 1819 for 100,000 francs by Louis XVIII, the king of France at the time. The piece shows the Spartan king Leonidas prior to the Battle of Thermopylae. David's pupil Georges Rouget collaborated on it. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Cycle Touring Greece -Day 1 Athens to Thebes
This is day one of my bike tour in Central Greece, which involved cycling from Athens to Thebes. I had in mind a nice gentle day to start the cycle tour off, but let's just say it looked flatter on the map! Still, I made Thebes in nice time, and celebrated with a big meal! I will try to keep a tab of how much I spend when cycle touring Greece on this trip. Today, I spent 47.50 Euro. Tomorrow should be a bit cheaper as I will be camping. #biketouring #bicycletouring #cycletouring Find out more about this bike tour here:
Cycle Touring Greece Day 16 - River Evinou to Kato Chora
My bike tour across the mountains of Greece continued when I left the River Evinou and cycled to Kato Chora. Again, this looked a deceptively short distance on the map, but the challenging terrain of cycling in Nafpaktos region added an edge to it! On arrival at Kato Chora (Lower Town), I booked into a mountain chalet - A little bit out of my bike touring budget, but very nice all the same. Find out all about the bike tour:
