Maaseik is a town and municipality in the Belgian province of Limburg. Both in size as in population , it is the 8th largest municipality in Limburg. The town is the seat of the administrative arrondissement of Maaseik . Internationally, Maaseik is known as the assumed birthplace of the famous Flemish painters Jan and Hubert van Eyck.

Brussels-South is one of the three major railway stations in Brussels and the busiest station in Belgium. It is located on the territory of the municipality of Saint Gilles/Sint Gillis. Planckendael is a zoo, located on the grounds of Planckendael castle in the village district of Muizen, in Mechelen, Belgium. In 1956 the Royal Zoological Society of Antwerp bought the Planckendael estate in order to acquire a larger space for animals than what they owned: the city zoo in Antwerp. Planckendael hosts exotic animals like rhinos, bison and various antelope species. Planckendael also has extensive leisure facilities: For children there is a large separate play area.

The Musée Hergé, or Hergé Museum, is a museum in Belgium dedicated to the life and work of the Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi , who wrote under the pen name Hergé, creator of the series of comic albums, The Adventures of Tintin. The museum is located in the town of Louvain-la-Neuve in Wallonia to the south of Brussels at the address, Rue Labrador 26, Tintin's first home in the books. It was designed by the French architect Christian de Portzamparc, with interiors designed by cartoonist Joost Swarte. The first stone was laid May 2007 during the centenary of Hergé's birth and it opened in June 2009. It consists of three floors with a total of nine exhibition rooms, and a café, museum shop and mini cinema.

Walibi Belgium, formerly Walibi Wavre and then Six Flags Belgium, is a Belgian theme park located in Wavre, close to Brussels. During the 1998 to 2004 period, it was owned by Six Flags, Inc, an American theme park operator. It was later sold to Palamon Capital Partners. As of 2006, the park is owned and operated, along with Paris' Parc Astérix, by CDA Parks . The Walibi name comes from the mix of Wavre, Limal and Bièrges, three towns in the Belgian province of Walloon Brabant, where the park is situated.

Montagne de Bueren is a 374-step staircase in Liège, Belgium. The staircase is named after Vincent de Bueren, who defended Liège against an attack by the Duke of Burgundy, Charles the Bold in the 15th century. It was built in 1881 to honour the 600 soldiers who died in the battle.In 2013, Montagne de Bueren was ranked as #1 on The Huffington Post's list of Most Extreme Staircases.

Imagine an army over 8,000 strong, built by men for conquest after death.

That is what you will see if you travel to visit the Terracotta Army.

This enormous force rests in hundreds of ranks, no two soldiers exactly the same.

Besides the infantry, the army consists of hundreds of cavalry and chariots.

The first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, ordained its constructed in roughly 210 BC.

The Terracotta Army was supposed to continue the Emperor's conquest in the afterlife.

The army is only one part of an enormous grave complex.

Archaeologists are still excavating the site, but there are areas that are open to visitors.

Marina the Donkey and Her Sanctuary in Split, Croatia

When thinking about things to do in Split, Croatia, try hiking to the top of Marjan Hill next to Diocletian’s Palace. On your way up, you may find a female donkey named Marina.

Marina lives with several donkeys and other animals in a sanctuary overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Long before cars, her breed used to carry supplies up Marjan Hill.

Today, her refuge can be found in the remains of what was once the city zoo. She is part of a program called Toward Europe that seeks to develop new purposes for donkeys.
