Lombok is an island in West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. It forms part of the chain of the Lesser Sunda Islands, with the Lombok Strait separating it from Bali to the west and the Alas Strait between it and Sumbawa to the east. The provincial capital and largest city on the island is Mataram. It is somewhat similar in size and density with neighboring Bali and shares some cultural heritage, but is administratively part of NTB along with sparsely populated Sumbawa. It is surrounded by a number of smaller islands locally called Gili.

Lombok is awesome! They say it is the new Bali. I am not really sure what to think about it, but what I can tell you: visit Lombok for sure! The food is awesome, the people are super open and friendly, the beaches are beautiful and the surf is the sh*t. So how to travel Lombok and what to do on Lombok? I will give you some answers in this video about Lombok/Indonesia!

- also, Kuta is supposed to be awesome! Check out Kuta and stay here for a while. It is a town of surfers and lost Australians.
What to see on Lombok?
- Hike on the Gunung Rinjani: check the time schedules as hikes are not allowed between November and March
- Kuta: Bali many years ago
- Beaches: Selong Belanak and Tanjung Aan
- Eastern Lombok: pink beach and magic island
- South-West: more Gili islands
-Visit Mataram (the capital of Lombok)
- Ogoh-Ogoh festival: an awesome experience where they build huge demons and burn them during the night
How to get around?
- when you fly to Lombok, take the DAMRI buses from the airport to the place you want to go. The buses are cheap and easy to take.
- to get around on Lombok you can take the Bluebird taxis (best option), Bemo (public buses) or private drivers.
- other apps to get around (like UBER): Grab and GoCar

We found FIVE stunning waterfalls in LOMBOK, INDONESIA
Just a short boat ride from Bali and the Gili Islands, you will find the incredible island of Lombok, Indonesia. Our first big adventure on the island was visiting 5 awesome waterfalls, all within a short walk of each other!!
This epic spot consisted of:
* Bengang Stokel: 3 beautiful waterfalls flowing into one shallow pool
* Kelambu Waterfall: a mystical vine wall of waterfalls
* An 11-meter cliff jump (that we chickened out of)
* Another hidden waterfall
We had an absolute blast exploring these waterfalls and are so blown away with Lombok’s beauty!!

섬의 수도 마타람에는 롬복 최대 규모의 힌두교 사원인 메루 사원이 있습니다. 인근 마유라 물 궁전에서 줄지어 선 망고스틴 나무 아래 앉아 명상에 잠기고 재스민 향에 취해 볼 수도 있습니다.
왕궁이자 수상 가옥인 이 건축물은 1700년대 중반, 과거 롬복을 통치하던 발리인이 만든 것입니다. 경치 좋은 서부 해안을 따라 마타람에서 북쪽으로 이동하면 셍기기 비치가 나옵니다. 이 여유로운 리조트 타운은 롬복의 다른 모습을 볼 수 있는 완벽한 장소입니다.
바투 볼롱 사원의 힌두교 탑에서 예를 차린 뒤 아래로 내려와 현지 가족들과 물놀이를 즐겨 보세요. 해 질 녘 태양이 바닷속으로 저물듯 셍기기에서는 모든 것이 멈춥니다. 행선지를 옮길 때가 되면 내륙의 북쪽 도로를 따라 원숭이로 가득한 산악 지대의 푸숙 공원 산책로에 들어서 보세요. 몇 마일 더 가면 탄중 마을이 보입니다.

City Description:
Lombok is an Indonesian island east of Bali and west of Sumbawa, part of the Lesser Sunda Island chain. It's known for beaches and surfing spots, particularly at Kuta and Banko Banko (in south Lombok). The motor-vehicle-free Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno), off Lombok’s west coast, offer more beaches, reefs for diving and snorkeling, and a sea turtle hatchery.
To the west, Senggigi is a popular beach resort and the gateway to the Gilis. West Lombok also has important temples (most notably the 18th-century Pura Lingsar) and Mataram, the provincial capital, home to craft shops and a historical museum, Museum Negeri NTB. In the central highlands are Gunung Rinjani National park and Mt. Rinjani, an active volcano topped by a crater lake that's a trekking and pilgrimage destination. The park also offers hiking through protected forest as well as to hot springs and waterfalls. Northern Lombok features jungles, waterfalls and traditional Sasak villages such as Tetebatu.
Weather and Events:
Most visitors arrive during the hot, dry season (May–Sep), though beaches are accessible year-round. The rainy season is Oct–Apr. Major festivals include the Bau Nyale Festival in Kuta (Mar), the ‘sea worm festival’ featuring boat races; the Senggigi Festival of art and culture (Jul); and Indonesia's Independence Day (Aug 17). Major religious holidays include Ramadan (dates vary).
