Ashbourne is a market town in the Derbyshire Dales, England. Ashbourne contains many historical buildings and many independent shops and is famous for its historic annual Shrovetide football match.Due to its proximity to the southern edge of the Peak District and being the closest town to the popular area of Dovedale, the town is known as both the 'Gateway to Dovedale' and the 'Gateway to the Peak District'.
The cobbled market place hosts a traditional outdoor market every Thursday and Saturday throughout the year, complementing the wide range of individual shops in the town. Although its market heritage is important, it came under threat of closure from Derbyshire County Council in November 2012. The people of Ashbourne have opposed any such moves by the council and started an online petition. Ashbourne became the 97th Fairtrade Town in March 2005 after many businesses, cafes, shops and community organisations started supporting Fairtrade.
Ashbourne has a large number of public houses for such a small town centre: there are currently 10 pubs trading, as well as 2 social clubs. However, the town's most famous establishment, the Green Man & Black's Head Royal Hotel, closed in 2012 and underwent a change of ownership in 2013. Part of it is being redeveloped into retail units and a bistro, and some of the hotel bedrooms are being restored but, as of February 2014, plans are also afoot to restore a pub function to the complex. The famous and rare 'gallows' sign across St John's Street does, however, remains a focal meeting point in the town. Local historians have noted that almost 1 in 4 buildings in the town have at one time or another been an alehouse, pub or inn or were redeveloped on the site of such an establishment.
The Tissington Trail, a popular recreational walk and cycle path, starts at Mappleton Lane on the northern outskirts of town, accessed by a large Victorian tunnel about 380 yards long running from the former railway station site in the town, and follows the course of the former Ashbourne to Buxton railway, running from what was Ashbourne railway station through the village of Tissington and joining the High Peak Trail (the old Cromford and High Peak Railway) at Parsley Hay.
The Limestone Way does not enter the town but passes around it some 2 to 3 miles away, going through Tissington, Thorpe, Marten Hill and above Mayfield on its way to Rocester. Although there is no formal link to the Limestone Way from Ashbourne, there are a number of routes that walkers from the town could use to join up with the way.

I had an amazing day in the #MayfieldLavender fields with my sister.
It was great to seat on a bench, enjoy the view, smell the Lavender and relax.
I'd say I really had a good bonding with the bees with them starting to go around my head and running after me haha.
I bought a Lavender oil for my mom cause they said it is good for headache. My sister and I also tried the LAVENDER SCONE, TEA and LAVENDER ICE CREAM. I fell in love with the LAVENDER SCONE!!! with a TIPTREE strawberry jam and clotted cream.

A hill figure is a large visual representation created by cutting into a steep hillside and revealing the underlying geology. It is a type of geoglyph usually designed to be seen from afar rather than above. In some cases trenches are dug and rubble made from material brighter than the natural bedrock is placed into them. The new material is often chalk, a soft and white form of limestone, leading to the alternative name of chalk figure for this form of art.
Ancient hill figures cut in grass are especially a phenomenon in England: examples include the Cerne Abbas Giant, the Uffington White Horse, the Long Man of Wilmington, as well as the lost carvings at Cambridge, Oxford and Plymouth Hoe. From the 18th century onwards, many further ones were added.

To those unfamiliar with the remaining rural landscapes of England, images of giant figures depicting man and beast emblazoned onto hillsides might elicit responses such as: Wow, is this real? Upon being informed that such hill figures exist all over Great Britain, some might even suspect the deceptive hand of Photoshop, or simply wonder why: why have people created these figures?
The answers are varied and often obscure, but we'll try to dig up what's behind each figure collected here. The works are created by stripping away the top layer of soil and turf to expose the chalk beneath, which contrasts strikingly with the green grass of the hillside. In some cases, trenches have been dug and material brighter than the bedrock placed inside. Designed to be seen from afar, the images are often discernible from great distances. Though they are frequently thought to date back from ancient times, most can be traced back to the last few centuries.

Next we walked around the Northern Quarter to find some cute cafe's and bars. We also accepted our Hogwarts letters and went to the John Ryland Library - any Harry Potter fans need to pop in here. For lunch we found some street food and cakes.

Cotswolds Flower Fields// The most dreamy flower fields in England! The Cotswolds are always worth visiting, no matter the time of year. You will always find the most romantic villages which are the epitome of British countrylife.
Last week we made a day trip to visit the 2 flower fields that the Cotswolds are so famous for during the summer months. The Cotswold Lavender Farm and the Confetti Flower Field in Pershore. Both are like a dream, really! You can visit the fields at Cotswold Lavender until August 5th but have to wait until next year for the Confetti Flower Field as they are open to the public for 10 days only. After that the petals are handpicked to make the most beautiful confetti petals - how romantic!

London 4K - Sunset Drive - Central London UK
Thursday evening drive around London. I tried to get all the popular spots in one video. What most people think of London is the West End area where most of this video is filmed. The tour starts on Regent Street, continues through Piccadilly Circus (London's version of New York City's Times Square, through Trafalgar Square, then passing by the British Prime Ministers home at 10 Downing Street along Whitehall and Parliament Streets, next by the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, along the River Thames with views of the famous Coca Cola London Eye, then going back to the Theater District, leading to Oxford Street which is Europe's busiest shopping Street, and ending in the Mayfield neighborhood on luxury Bond Street. Wow. That was a lot of text for a video platform... :)
The West End of London is the largest central business district in the United Kingdom, comparable to Midtown Manhattan in New York City, Causeway Bay in Hong Kong, Shibuya in Tokyo, or the 8th arrondissement in Paris. It is one of the most expensive locations in the world in which to rent office space. While the City of London, or the Square Mile, is the main business and financial district in London, the West End is the main commercial and entertainment centre of the city.
The West End of London (commonly referred to as the West End), refers to both a distinct and the wider region of Central London, west of the City of London and north of the River Thames, in which many of the city's major tourist attractions, shops, businesses, government buildings and entertainment venues, including West End theatres, are concentrated.
Activities:
Taking a fairly broad definition of the West End, the area contains the main concentrations of most of London's metropolitan activities apart from financial and many types of legal services, which are concentrated primarily in the City of London.
