Mezmay is a settlement in Apsheronsky District of Krasnodar Krai, Russia, located in the valley of the Kurdzhips River near its confluence with the Mezmay River, 35 kilometers south-east of Apsheronsk. Population: less than a thousand inhabitants. It is a popular mountain resort. The village was linked with Absheron by narrow-gauge railway but in 2011 this was completely interrupted due to a landslide.

So in this video I want to show you typical russian village. You'll see the church in this movie. It was abandoned many years ago, before foundation of Russia. The locals said me that problems in villages appeared many years ago, in times of the Soviet Union. All schools and hospital were closed already in the 1980s. And now we have this situation with villages, because it's very hard to draw an attention to this problem.

Abandoned village in Ukraine

During the project I am going to cover the big economical problem in Ukraine- village disappearing. Because of the economical motivation absence and lack of government support every year almost 300 villages disappear from the Ukraine map. Young people leave village to big cities and towns to find good job- which is a trend now in Post-Soviet countries. I found the last persons of Kuzbej village , Anna (deaf-and-dumb) and Kalina, sisters , who live in mountain village in Korpaty region. During USSR time , Village had 25 houses and church, and bus one per day, which connect it with bigger village.
