Hungary Travel Vlog - We welcome you to the western part of Danube river- to the city of BUDA of Budapest. This city rotates around the Buda Castle, one of the major tourist attractions in entire Hungary. Fun fact- in order to get to the castle you can ride a old fashioned funicular which gives you great view of the city. From the top starts the tour of Buda Castle where the history of this place follows you the whole time. We also try some locan hungarian food from a local budapest restaurant, make a stop at the Matthias Church and of course the Fisherman's Bastion, where the views are incredible. Come, join us!

On 01 October 2016 early in the morning, we departed Zabreb in Croatia for Budapest, Hungary. Initially, visiting Hungary was not part of our travel plans, however, after realizing how close it was from Zagreb (around 3 hours’ drive) we decided to go there for one night. I have to admit, this was probably the best decision we have ever made, I can confidently say that Budapest blew me away.
We arrived around lunchtime. Budapest, the capital and the most populous city of Hungary, is an extraordinary city. Often described as the little Paris of Middle Europe, Budapest is a city with many famous monuments, beautiful architecture, and vibrant nightlife. It is probably one of the most beautiful cities I have been in my entire life (I Like it more than Paris, Rome or London). The capital of Hungary has two sides divided by the Danube river: Buda and Pest.
Upon arrival, we immediately went for a walk around the historic Castle Hill, which is a must see attraction for any traveler in Budapest. Recognized as a world heritage site in 1987, the area is famous for its medieval, baroque and 19th-century houses, churches and public buildings. Another spot we visited in that area is the fisherman’s Bastion, which is a terrace in neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque style situated on the Castle hill in Budapest and it is also one best spots in town to enjoy panoramic views of the Danube River. From there you also get chance to see the many beautiful monuments surrounding the river, such as the Parliament house, Hungarian National Galery and Scechenyi Chain Bridge (the Lion Bridge). Needless to say that we spent hours there just taking pictures and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Then, we decided to go for lunch so we drove to a popular shop to try langos which are traditional deep fried breads made of dough with flour, yeast, water and topped with sour cream and grated cheese, garlic or garlic butter. We also tried Langos (deep fried dough) filled with chicken and vegetables, they were both delicious! If you ever go to Hungary, make sure you give them a try.
After lunch, we were off to explore the Scechenyi Chain Bridge by foot to enjoy closer views of the Danube River and one of my favorite buildings of all times: the Hungarian Parliament house. Budapest is beautiful during the day, but the city truly comes to life at night. The city gets a whole new look and it’s something I can’t even describe. You have to see for yourself.
After sunset, we headed for dinner in one of the restaurants in the area and we were surprised to find out that most restaurants in the city were very modern and trendy, with DJ’s playing electronic music and had a great vibe. I absolutely loved it! That evening I got to try another popular dish in Hungary: Goulash, which is a soup or Stew of meat and vegetables, seasoned with paprika and other spices, a must try if you are in Budapest.
After dinner, we headed to our Hotel in Lake Balaton for the evening, which is just 40 minutes away from Budapest. Lake Balaton is a major beach holiday destination in Hungary, but the city is mostly busy during summer. Since we were there in early October the city was very quiet. On the following morning (02 October), we left our hotel to explore the Lake Balaton area, before making our way to Ljubljana in Slovenia (see the link for the video at the bottom of the page).
