Ouvrage La Ferté, also known as Ouvrage Villy-La Ferté, is a petit ouvrage of the Maginot Line, located in the Fortified Sector of Montmédy, facing Belgium. The ouvrage lies between the towns of Villy and La Ferté-sur-Chiers. It possesses two combat blocks linked by an underground gallery. The westernmost position in its sector, it was a comparatively weakly armed fortification in an exposed position that left it vulnerable to isolation and attack. After a sustained attack during the Battle of France the position was overwhelmed by German forces and was destroyed with its entire garrison killed. The fighting at La Ferté was the heaviest of any position in the Maginot Line. It is preserved as a war memorial.

The cathedral predates those of Sens and Notre Dame of Paris, ranking with them in importance. It is the seat of the Bishop of Laon. The church has been listed among the Monuments Historiques since 1840.

Fort Douaumont was the largest and highest fort on the ring of 19 large defensive works which had protected the city of Verdun, France since the 1890s. By 1915, the French General Staff had concluded that even the best-protected forts of Verdun could not resist bombardments from the German 420 mm Gamma guns. These new super-heavy howitzers had easily taken several large Belgian forts out of action in August 1914. Fort Douaumont and other Verdun forts were judged ineffective and had been partly disarmed and left virtually undefended since 1915. On 25 February 1916, Fort Douaumont was entered and occupied without a fight by a small German raiding party comprising only 19 officers and 79 men. Destination Camping-Car vous emmène au Portugal. A bord du tout nouveau Challenger 396 nous sommes allés à la découverte du Sud du Portugal. Un voyage haut en couleur où nous avons parcouru 3500 km et découvert une nouvelle facette de ce pays dont nous avions déjà apprécié le Nord il y a 2 ans.
C'est donc dans l'Algarve que nous avons passé les fêtes et rasés les falaises à l'aide de notre drone.

In may/June 2009 we did a biketrip to Rome. We started near Brussels (Schepdaal).Via France : Monthermé, Charleville-Mézières, Bar-le-Duc (From here we followed most of the time the Via Francigena), Bains-les-Bains, Besançon and Ornans. We passed into Switzerland over the Jura Mountains (Pontarlier,Yverdon-les-Bains, Vevey, Montreux, Aigle, Martigny). We went to Italy via the Great St.Bernard, the highest road pass in Switzerland. We passed a lot of historic places in Italy: Aosta, Ivrea, Santhiá, Vercelli, Pavia, Piacenza, Parma, over the Apennines (Cisa Pass), Pontremoli, Carrara, Lucca, Pisa, San Gimignano, Colle di Val D'Elsa, Siena, Bolsena, Viterbo, Sutri and at least Roma.
