Ex TC Oswald hitting Coolum Beach
With Ex tropical cyclone Oswald hitting Coolum Beach I had to go check out what was going on around town, trees and branches are down everywhere, Stumers creek was in flood, the beach is almost covered by the surf, Point Arkwright was wild! Here's some footage that I took with my Go Pro, the popping and crackling is the sound of the rain hitting my camera hard.

See below 'Severe Weather Warning' Issued by the bom.gov.au
TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST
SEVERE WEATHER WARNING
for DESTRUCTIVE WINDS, HEAVY RAINFALL, ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES and DANGEROUS SURF
For people in the
Wide Bay and Burnett,
Southeast Coast and parts of the
Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts.
Issued at 2:27 pm Sunday, 27 January 2013.
Synoptic Situation:
At 2pm EST, the centre of ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald was located approximately 45km north northwest of Chinchilla and 100km south southeast of Taroom. The system was moving south southeast at about 30 km/h and is expected to contract into New South Wales on Monday.
Reports of destructive winds and possible tornado activity occurred over northern parts of the Sunshine Coast this morning. Double Island Point recorded a wind gust of 122km/h at 10:45am. These conditions are expected to continue over the far southern Wide Bay and Southeast Coast district, extending west to the eastern Darling Downs and Granite Belt. Destructive wind gusts in excess of 125 km/h and further tornadoes are likely, and this could cause significant damage or destruction to homes and property in localised areas.
Current radar imagery shows an intense band of activity moving on to the coast south of Caboolture, moving southward.
Heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding is expected to continue over the Wide Bay and Burnett district and Southeast Coast district, extending west to include the Great Dividing Range and the Granite Belt. Six hour rainfall accumulations in excess of 100mm are likely. This could lead to rapid river and stream rises. Widespread 24 hour rainfall accumulations in excess of 250mm are likely.
Currently, the heaviest rain is located on radar inland near and just south of Caboolture, moving southwards. Dayboro has recorded 40mm in one hour to 2:20pm. Baroon Dam has recorded 175mm, Cooloolabin Dam 145mm and Cooran 144mm since 9am. In the 24 hours to 9am Sunday, widespread areas through the Wide Bay and Burnett district recorded 300 to 400mm. Walla on the northern Wide Bay recorded 480mm.
Water levels on the morning high tide are likely to exceed the highest tide of the year about coastal and island locations from Burnett Heads to the New South Wales border on Monday. The sea level is likely to rise above the normal tide and the exposed beaches will experience damaging waves and flooding of some low lying areas close to the shoreline.
Dangerous surf conditions, with significant beach erosion, are expected along the coast from Burnett Heads to the New South Wales border during today and Monday. This includes Hervey Bay and northern parts of Moreton Bay.
A separate Severe Weather Warning is current for the remainder of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district and eastern parts of the Maranoa and Warrego district.
Flood Warnings are current for various rivers and streams in these districts, see bom.gov.au/qld/warnings.
Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Surf Life Saving Australia recommends that you stay out of the water and stay well away from surf-exposed areas.
* Check your property regularly for erosion or inundation by sea water, and if necessary raise goods and electrical items.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
The next warning is due to be issued by 8:30 pm.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Emergency Management Queensland would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
