The Badami cave temples are a complex of four Hindu, a Jain and possibly Buddhist cave temples located in Badami, a town in the Bagalkot district in northern part of Karnataka, India. The caves are considered an example of Indian rock-cut architecture, especially Badami Chalukya architecture, which dates from the 6th century. Badami was previously known as Vataapi Badami, the capital of the early Chalukya dynasty, which ruled much of Karnataka from the 6th to the 8th century. Amazing places in Karnataka - Pattadakal Monuments

Pattadakal located in Bijapur district of Karnataka - a historic place popular for Chalukyan architectural wonder. Besides monuments the place was also a holy place for royal coronation, 'Pattadakisuvolal' done by Chalukyans. The architecture mainly temples, constructed here is a blend of Rekha, Nagara, Prasada and the Dravida Vimana styles. The oldest temple at Pattadakal is Sangamesvara built by Vijayaditya Satyasraya (CE 697-733).

It is inscribed on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites, quote: Pattadakal, in Karnataka, represents the high point of an eclectic art which, in the 7th and 8th centuries under the Chalukya dynasty, achieved a harmonious blend of architectural forms from northern and southern India. An impressive series of nine Hindu temples, as well as a Jain sanctuary, can be seen there.

Pattadakal, also spelled Paṭṭadakallu, is a UNESCO inscribed World Heritage site featuring 7th and 8th-century Hindu (Shaivism) and Jain temples It is a village and an important tourist centre in the state of Karnataka and is located on the left bank of the Malaprabha River in Bagalakote. It is 22 km from Badami, and about 10 km from Aihole, both of which are well known for Chalukya monuments. It is 514 km from Bengaluru. The Pre-Chalukya historical and archaeological site Bachinagudda is also near Pattadakal.
