Punat is located in the southwest part of the Island of Krk, in one of the most protected bays on the Adriatic. Punat is a small town with under 2000 inhabitants. What it lacks in size though, Punat more than makes up for it in beauty. It is surrounded by an extremely deep bay called Puntarska draga or Puntarska Bay, where you'll find a miniature island of Košljun along with a Franciscan monastery. Such beauty is rarely seen!
Development of tourism in Punat
Punat has gained a reputation as a beautiful tourist location way back in the 19th century, when empress Karolina, visited the Franciscan monastery on Košljun. After that, numerous people came to visit this beautiful little town.
Punat is a small town which is an oasis away from business, stress and the noise of cities. Sailors will feel especially welcome in Punat since there they will find the biggest and the oldest marina on the Adriatic that can accommodate around 1200 vessels.

Punat is the home to hospitable people to whom the climate has given the mildness, while the rock and the sea have given them care and diligence. All the charm of the simple seaside ambience in Punat comes from the narrow little streets, passages, terraces and taverns which offer good wine. Punat also has a true gem in the middle of the bay – the Islet of Košljun.
