Rupea Citadel (Romanian: Cetatea Rupea, German: Burg Reps, Hungarian: Kőhalmi vár) is one of the oldest archaeological sites in Romania, the first signs of human settlements dating from the Paleolithic and early Neolithic.
The first documentary attestation dates from 1324 when the Saxons revolted against King Charles I of Hungary took refuge inside the citadel. According to archaeologists, the current citadel was built on the ruins of a former Dacian defense fort conquered by the Romans. The name of the citadel comes from Latin rupes meaning stone. From the 10th century, the citadel experienced a systematic expansion, so that in the 14th century it had a key strategic role, being the main linking point between Transylvania, Moldavia and Wallachia.
A popular legend in the area tells that Dacian king Decebalus would commit suicide within the citadel, during the Second Dacian War (105–106), when the citadel was known as Ramidava.
Rupea Citadel is situated in the west of Rupea, on a 120 m-high basalt massive. The citadel is located on DN13, 70 km from Brașov, on the road to Sighișoara. The citadel is visited each month by more than 10,000 tourists.

Cetatea Rasnov - Râșnov Fortress Romania
(Romanian: Cetatea Râșnov, German: Rosenauer Burg) is a historic monument and landmark in Romania. It is situated in Râşnov, Brașov County, in the immediate vicinity of Brașov.
The Râșnov Fortress was built as part of a defense system for the Transylvanian villages exposed to outside invasions. A decisive aspect for building the fortress at its location was the route of the invading armies which were coming from the Bran pass and were passing through Râșnov, on their way to Braşov and other parts of the Burzenland region. The only chance of survival for the inhabitants of the area, including from Cristian and Ghimbav, was the refuge inside the refuge castle at Râşnov. Compelled to stay there for decades, the people of Râșnov and the nearby villages turned the fortification into their long-term place of residence.

Brasov,cel mai iubit oras din Romania
Brasovul si vecinatatile sale,sub denumirea de Tara Barsei,
au jucat un rol important in Evul Mediu, detinand trei puncte strategice,care i-au asigurat dezvoltarea militara, economoca si politica: cetatea Fagaras, castelul Bran si nu in ultimul rand orasul Brasov.
Cuibarit in curbura Carpatilor, intre muntii Piatra Mare, Postavaru si Tampa, orasul Brasov are destule turnuri, porti si biserici vechi, cat sa te duca intr-o captivanta atmosfera medievala.
Orasul coroanei s-a remarcat inca de la intemeierea sa (1235)prin modul in care mai multe etnii, romani, maghiari si germani au reusit sa convietuiasca in pace si intelegere. Edificata intre secolele paisprezece si saptesprezece , cetatea Brasovului, considerata a fi una dintre cele mai puternice din Transilvania, pastreaza numeroase vestigii, care in urma restaurarilor efectuate in ultimii ani, au devenit obiective de mare atractie.
Piata Sfatului, Bastionul Tesatorilor, Turnul Alb si Turnul Negru, Poarta Ecaterina, Poarta Schei, Canalul si Bastionul Graft, Biserica Neagra, sunt doar cateva dintre cele mai interesante obiective turistice ale orasului vechi, amintiri ale puternicei cetati de odinioara. Turistii care viziteaza aceste locuri, pot remarca farmecul aparte al cetatii medievale, aspectul placut si ingrijit al strazilor si al cladirilor, precum si multitudinea evenimentelor culturale.
Cu un trecut istoric fascinant, dar si cu frumusetea privelistilor inconjuratoare, Brasovul este prin excelenta un oras turistic, pe care vi-l recomand cu mare placere.

Explore a fantastic fortified church founded by the Teutonic Knights in now Transylvania in Romania. The Ottomans tried to destroy the church over 50 times without success all the while destroying the town. The church is heavily fortified and we will be able to see inside where 4 stories of living and storage accommodation inside the church protected people and goods. The site is in pristine condition having been restored during Communist times
