Places to see in Albufeira, Lagos and Sagres Portugal / Beautiful beaches in Algarve Region
When we went to Portugal,we visited Lisbon and then headed to the southern part of the country.Everytime we visit the southern part,we always stay in Algarve Region. Algarve Region is well known for it's beautiful beaches.I think some of the beaches are definitely one of those most beautiful in the world.Aside from it's crystal blue water and golden sand,there are also lots of cliffs and rock formations.
Praia do Castelo is a small beach in Albufeira with beautiful cliffs and coves.The view from the top of the cliff is breathtaking!
Praia dos Pescadores or Fisherman's beach is a beautiful beach in front of Albufeira's Old Town.It has also some cliffs and coves.
Praia da Batata is the beach near the city centre of Lagos.Just near the beach you will see a fortress, Forte Ponta da Bandeira.The beach has also some beautiful cliffs and coves.
The Fortaleza Sagres or Sagres Fortress is great place to see the panoramic view of the ocean.
Albufeira,Villamoura,Faro,Lagos and Sagres are the places you have to check out when visiting Algarve.Definitley worth a visit!

SAGRES, is located in extreme southwest of Europe, part of the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina, it's a traditional fishing village and is surrounded by magnificent cliffs. Fortaleza de Sagres, is a national monument. After entering a tunnel, you can see a circle of stones that are believed to be a wind rose. Sagres have some of the most impressive landscapes of the Algarve. The most influential figure in the history of Sagres was the Prince Henry, who was inspired to embark on their discovery voyages. The wild and rugged landscape of Sagres and the strength and attraction of the sea continue to delight visitors. The exposed beaches, such as Tonel, made Sagres the main attraction for surfers in Algarve, while the more sheltered beaches such as Mareta or Martinhal, are the best choice for families, as they continue to maintain its relaxed and natural environment. There is a great variety of things to see; The city center is sculped with traditional architecture and colors from the region. Ponta da Piedade is a beautiful spot with a nice lighthouse from where you can make boat tours to the natural caves.

Loule hosts a colourful weekly market and is a thriving centre for local handicrafts. It is also the gateway to the central hinterland and the Caldeirao mountain range

Monchique is a spa town. Monchique is the main town of the Serra de Monchique, the mountain range that separates the Algarve from Alentejo and the rest of Portugal to the north. Attractions include a historic town centre, spectacular views from the two peaks of Foia and Picota, hiking, bird watching and biking.
3. Silves
The region of Silves has been inhabited since the Palaeolithic, as attested by archaeological remains, including several menhirs. The river Arade, which was navigable in historical times, linked the hinterland to the open ocean and allowed the transport of produce and commerce. The town of Silves was possibly founded during the times of Roman domination, when the region was part of the Lusitania province.

Nearly 40 churches endow this elegant riverside town with a romantic and disarmingly timeless air. The Gilao river glides effortlessly through the centre -- a Roman bridge connects the two sides of one of the prettiest towns in the Algarve.
