1. Segovia - the town with a Roman aqueduct, amazing cathedral and castle / alcazar makes for an easy 30 minute train ride or hour and a half bus ride from Madrid. Eat the suckling pig!
2. Toledo - the former capital of Spain and the seat of the Catholic church in Spain, Toledo offers cool streets to wander through, a great cathedral, a cool armaments museum & more.
3. El Escorial - the royal palace outside of Madrid is a cool way to see all the pomp and circumstance of the Spanish & European court.
4. Avila - this walled city let's you literally climb the walls and see a number of historic buildings such as their cathedral.
