Delta del Ebro, Catalonia, Spain / A 100-Year-Old Dog's First Time at the Beach

Rosana and I have adopted a little dog called Café (coffee in Spanish). He's 17 years old, which makes him 100 in human years!
He'd never been to the beach, so we decided to treat him to a weekend of adventuring on the wetlands and sands of the Delta del Ebro, just a 2 or 3 hour drive from where we live in Barcelona. He loved every second!
If you're thinking of bringing a pet into your family, whether it be a cat, a rat or a dog, consider adopting before going straight to the pet shop.

PS ~ The Ebro Delta is the delta region of the Ebro River in the Province of Tarragona, Catalonia, in northeastern Spain. It is on the Mediterranean Sea, and it is the northernmost point. A fantastic place to go when you need a fix of nature.

Domaine de Lanzac
Domaine de Lanzac is gesitueerd in een park van 10 ha. en biedt u luxueuze vakantiehuizen, opgetrokken in de stijl van de Dordogne. Het centrale complex aan de voorzijde van het terrein beschikt over een restaurant met een groot terras, waar zowel binnen als buiten wordt geserveerd, een bar met ruime lounge om ongestoord van een goed glas te kunnen genieten en een receptie. Self catering holidays in Riumar in the Ebro Delta
The 3-story holiday residence Las Dunas in the small beach resort Riumar is built only a couple of meters behind the splendid sand dunes and the long sandy beach. It offers 40 well equipped holiday apartments for family beach holidays which can be booked through NOVASOL. 35 of the apartments (EDO250) have 2 bedrooms, a living room with kitchen and a bathroom. 5 further apartments (EDO251) have even 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The holiday homes are pet friendly, have all a balcony, TV, washing machine and wireless internet access. The nice swimming pool with sun loungers and umbrellas is open all year and is only for the guests. There is also a restaurant allowing our guests to dine out if they don’t feel like cooking at their holiday accommodation. This upper class complex Las Dunas is very popular among families. It is located in the south end of the Costa Daurada and can be reached in 2 hours by car from Barcelona. It is less than 2 km away from the Ebro river mouth and in the middle of the huge 320 km2 Delta de l’Ebre Nature Park. For bird watcher the Ebro delta is a real paradise. In any season of the year they can see resident birds or other species on migration. It is impressing for anyone to see big birds like flamingos or many kinds of herons. On the near Ebro river, which is very broad here, or at the seaside you can angle very well, and thus this is a perfect place for family holidays, for fishing, bird watching and nature holidays. In the very flat surroundings of the holiday complex you can see many fields where rice is grown. This rice is used fort he typical Paella and other delicious rice dishes, but in the local cuisine you find also cooked and baked fish and besides this, you can taste the popular Langostinos (prawns) from the neighbouring village of Sant Carles de la Ràpita or many delicious meat dishes. The day you don’t want to go to the beach, you have a big choice of alternative activities in this area to choose from, like hiking, cycling or boat excursions. In the small beach resort of Riumar you find some restaurants, beach cafés and smaller supermarkets, but in the village of Deltebre, which is only 10 km away, you find further shops and also bigger supermarkets.
