The Giants' grave of Su Mont'e s'Abe is an archaeological site located in the municipality of Olbia, in the Italian province of Sassari. Like other giants' tombs of Gallura, it was built in two main phases of construction.
In the first stage, during the period of the Bonnanaro culture, it was built an allée couverte tomb; later, in the second phase, during the age Nuragic age (1600 BC approximately), the allée couverte was transformed into a giants' tomb with the realization of the exedra and the erection of the central stele of which few traces remain today. The tomb, which measures about 28 meters in length and six in width, was excavated and restored in the 1960s.

Its thick floorboards and high ceilings are full of character and are joined by fine Italian bedding and vintage pieces.
Guests can also spread out in the shared living areas, which include a cosy living room and a large dining area. An outdoor courtyard is on hand for al fresco dining and is perfect for delicious breakfasts in the morning sunshine. Expect a magnificent spread of fresh Sardinian produce, including homemade breads, freshly-baked cakes and aromatic coffee. Home-cooked meals can also be enjoyed in the intimate, hotel restaurant that includes seasonal foods that are hand-picked around the area.
Beyond your tranquil garden and the peaceful, little village lies an endless array of incredible scenery. Rolling pastures disappear far off into the distance and are adorned with lush olive groves and sprawling vineyards. Wild horses roam the secluded hillsides, while crumbling castles look down over the landscape. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Su Nuraxi di Barumini can also be found close-by and is an archaeological treasure dating back to the 2nd millennium B.C.
Closer to home, you can explore the pretty town of Gergei that has narrow cobbled streets and a farming history. Taste the award-winning olive oil or the rich, local produce before spotting the exquisite churches and the centuries-old artwork. Cookery classes can also be arranged on request along with visits to the oil mills and wine-tasting sessions in Olianas Winery.
Here at Domu Antiga with our cook Maria Grazia we organize cooking lessons to spread the rich knowledge of the techniques, knowledge and artisanal skills that Sardinia and especially the Sarcidano possesses. Sardinia might even have the most international of all cuisines for its long history of mixing between diverse cultures that have sailed the Mediterranean but at the same time remained deeply rooted to its local identity.
At Domu Antiga interested guests may participate in a workshop in cheese making to learn how to transform milk into cheese using age old techniques for the creation of cheese. In a space in the house specifically dedicated to the workshops, Samuel will guide the students-guests, to use the antique instruments of the cheese maker, to transform milk into Sardinia’s famous pecorino cheese and the delicacy that is ricotta cheese, the same magic that was handed down by the very Nuraghe themselves.

La bibioteca Guarneriana
LA BIBLIOTECA GUARNERIANA
La Biblioteca Guarneriana è una delle più antiche in Italia, e la prima in Friuli.
Nacque nel 1466 per volontà di Guarnerio d'Artegna che donò alla Chiesa di S. Michele tutti i suoi codici manoscritti.
Guarnerio espresse la volontà che i libri fossero custoditi in un luogo in cui fosse possibile leggere e studiare.
Il suo lascito si è preservato quasi inalterato nei secoli costituendo uno dei fondi librari più coerenti ed interessanti dell'Umanesimo italiano.
Tra i manoscritti più prestigiosi c'è la cosiddetta Bibbia Bizantina, le cui miniature costituiscono una interessante commistione tra elementi occidentali e levantini.
La raccolta si arricchì nel 1736 grazie alla donazione di monsignor Giusto Fontanini che lasciò anche i mezzi necessari alla realizzazione di una libreria lignea costruita intorno al 1740.
Il lascito Fontanini comprendeva fra l'altro un codice contenente l'Inferno dantesco.
Nel 700 e 800 la biblioteca si impreziosì grazie a nuovi codici acquistati dalla comunità sandanielese: tra i quali Il Canzoniere e I Trionfi del Petrarca risalenti al 400.
La Guarneriana fu visitata da illustri personaggi come Foscolo, Nievo e Carducci.
Nei suoi locali sono conservati l'Archivio storico comunale e quello dell'antico ospedale di Sant'Antonio.
