The Isle of Skye, connected to Scotland's northwest coast by bridge, is known for its rugged landscapes, picturesque fishing villages and medieval castles. Skye has provided the locations for various novels and feature films and is celebrated in poetry and song.

The 18th-century Stein Inn on the Waternish coast is the oldest pub on Skye. Kyleakin is linked to Kyle of Lochalsh on the mainland by the Skye Bridge, which spans the narrows of Loch Alsh. Uig, the port for ferries to the Outer Hebrides, is on the west of the Trotternish peninsula and Edinbane is between Dunvegan and Portree. Much of the rest of the population lives in crofting townships scattered around the coastline.

Highland Cows & Epic Views on The Isle of Skye

The latest travel vlog from here in Scotland takes us to the destination we had in mind: The Isle of Skye. And, it doesn't disappoint. The views are just incredible as soon as we arrive, and the only get better as the day goes on. Best of all, maybe, is that as soon as we arrived on the Isle of Skye we were greeted by a group of Highland Cows, locally known as Heilan Coos.
The highland cows are so photogenic. They have almost punk rock hair, and they're actually pretty friendly so they are always up at the fences to greet tourists. I got a couple photos of the highland cows that I really like before we pushed on to our campsite and then to search around the island.
I had a little bit of an issue with the mics on today's travel vlog but nothing to really hold me back. A lot of it had to due with the heavy rain they seem to always have in Scotland.
Eventually, after checking out some of the coolest spots on the Isle of Skye, we headed on a hike up to shoot Old Man of Storr which is the most iconic image of the Island, and perhaps of Scotland in general. The hike was beautiful, but when we got to the viewpoint of Old Man of Storr, we got absolutely hammered by rain.
Thankfully, though, the rain stopped just as the light got brilliant and we were treated to some epic lights and even though the gear was soaked, we got some cool photos.
The Isle of Skye, so far, has been amazing. It's just full of great pictures to be made and the driving has been so much fun too. I can't wait to get out and see more of this Scottish Island tomorrow as the Scotland travel vlog continues. We've got another full day of exploring here on The Isle of Skye and I think we're going to go check out the other half of the island: some castles, waterfalls, and lighthouses. It should be lots of fun.
