Sellingen is a town in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is a part of the municipality of Westerwolde, and lies about 25 kilometres northeast of Emmen. In 2006, statistical area Sellingen, which also includes the surrounding countryside, had a population of 1920 in 820 households in an area of 29.75 square kilometres , and the town of Sellingen had 1070 in 470 households in an area of 0.79 square kilometres .

Wildlands, also known as Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen, is a zoo in Emmen, the Netherlands. It opened in March 2016, replacing the Emmen Zoo. Wildlands is an adventure theme park with four main areas: Jungola, Serenga, Nortica and Animazia. Jungola is jungle-themed and displays butterflies, tropical birds, large reptiles , ring-tailed lemurs, lar gibbons, small-clawed otters and Asian elephants. Fort Bourtange is a star fort in the village of Bourtange, Groningen, Netherlands. It was built under orders of William the Silent and completed in 1593. Its original purpose was to control the only road between Germany and the city of Groningen, which was controlled by the Spaniards during the time of the Eighty Years' War. After experiencing its final battle in 1672, the Fort continued to serve in the defensive network on the German border until it was finally given up in 1851 and converted into a village. Fort Bourtange currently serves as a historical museum.

2014 Bourtange-Groningen-Nederland-Europa

Bourtange (Gronings: Boertang) is een vestingdorp in de provincie Groningen, dat tijdens de Nederlandse Opstand is aangelegd. Bourtange ligt in de gemeente Vlagtwedde, in de streek Westerwolde. Het is een beschermd dorpsgezicht. Hoewel de grachten en muren anders doen vermoeden, heeft Bourtange nooit stadsrechten gehad.

Tussen 1811 en 1821 was Bourtange een zelfstandige gemeente, waartoe in het beginjaar ook Ter Apel, Onstwedde, Sellingen, Vlagtwedde en Wedde behoorden. De eerste maire was Paulus Eckringa. In 1811 werd Vlagtwedde afgesplitst en in 1813 Onstwedde. In 1821 ging Bourtange op in de gemeente Vlagtwedde.
