Holland America ms Veendam Tour, Food & Entertainment (4K)
See what is it like aboard the Holland America Veendam cruise ship, including what entertainment & food to expect, including menus. We were on the Veendam in July 2018 for a 14 night Cuba cruise sailing out of Boston.
The staff was friendly, especially at the dining room. The food was pretty good, though the buffet was just a bit inferior to our other Holland America cruises (on the ms Amsterdam & Eurodam). The buffet offerings were still very enjoyable, however. Food at the main dining room was excellent, and the Dive In Cafe on this ship tasted even better than our other pair of HAL cruises. We did have some service issues at the pool deck when eating at the Dive In there- asked the roaming bartender there for water (there was no water nearby), and she was very hesitant, then said she would bring it, and never did.
Entertainment was pretty solid- the singers & dancers had good performances, and the guest entertainers were pretty funny. It is certainly not a party ship, however. Activities-wise we enjoyed Ping Pong & playing some tennis (this is one of the few cruise ships out there with a Tennis Court).
The Veendam is showing her age a bit. On a couple occasions there were AC issues at the Lido Market buffet, and at some point there was condensation at the ceiling there. The shower at our cabin had trouble keeping a constant temperature. The ship's internet was extremely slow and expensive- to avoid frustration we'd recommend avoiding buying an internet package on the Veendam unless they have upgraded the service. Also if you are someone who likes to sleep in- it could be difficult as loud announcements from the cruise director are broadcast through hallway ceiling speakers as early as 8 AM at times.
Like other older HAL cruise ships, it was nice that the Veendam also has self-service laundry facilities ($1 for the washer, $2 for dryer).
The Holland America Veendam review verdict- we enjoyed our cruise overall, despite some of the issues we mentioned, and would certainly recommend to others.

Holland America Amsterdam Oceanview Stateroom & Inside Cabin Tour (HD)
Take a tour of a Holland America Amsterdam Oceanview Stateroom, specifically cabin # 2540 (DA2540
Category DA - Large Oceanview Stateroom) located at the forward of the ship on deck 2. This cabin can hold 3 passengers, was nice and quiet, with ample storage space. We did encountered some issues with the toilet not flushing several times.
Also take a look at an interior stateroom, specifically cabin #1887 (J1887 - Category J - Large Interior Stateroom). This one was very noisy with a constant hum going in the background, so we can't recommend it unless you like white noise. Inside it is very similar to the oceanview except it has a much smaller shower, but a larger sink counter top. Oddly enough, the TV and DVD are much newer LG models.

Holland America Interior Stateroom Tour on MS Veendam (4K)
See what the inside of a Holland America Interior Stateroom look like, in this case aboard the MS Veendam cruise ship, cabin #570. This inside stateroom is located mid-ship forward on Deck 5. This cabin sleeps 3 guests. There was plenty of storage all around, though the flat screen TV is dated. The bathroom has nice water pressure from both the faucet and the shower head, which is removable. Holland America provides various Elemis bath body products including a bar soap, shower cap, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. The beds were firm but comfortable, and we had little trouble sleeping as things were pretty quiet.
Overall we would certainly recommend this particular room. This was from our June 2018 Cuba cruise aboard the Holland America Veendam. =======================
