EN// The Abbazia di Piona is a religious complex set at the top of a small peninsula, the Olgiasca. We visited the interior of the abbey and the cloisters, 12th century buildings. The abbey is surrounded by gardens, which go down the hill to the lake shore, where the view is superb!

La terza puntata stagionale di Borghi d’Italia ci accompagnerà alla scoperta del Comune di Asolo, il borgo dai Cento Orizzonti. Nel corso del programma incontreremo il sindaco, il prevosto, il presidente del Festival del Viaggiatore, lo chef, il fotoreporter, l’operatrice museale e gli abitanti. Visiteremo il centro storico, la rocca, il castello, la cattedrale di S. Maria Assunta, il convento di San Pietro e Paolo, il Museo Civico, la casa di Freya Stark, e ci inoltreremo negli angoli nascosti del luogo amato dalla regina Cornaro, da Pietro Bembo, Lorenzo Lotto, Giorgione, Canova, Palladio, Malipiero, Browning, fino ad arrivare alla “divina” Eleonora Duse. Racconteremo le esperienze del Festival del Viaggiatore di Asolo. Poi, presenteremo i piatti tradizionali del territorio, il dialetto e non mancheranno altre curiosità.

Oriental Venice - The road to the discovery of the evolution of Christianity in Eastern Veneto has its origins in the distant town of Aquileia, founded in 181 BC.
In particular with the construction of the first early Christian building, the patriarchal basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, founded in 313 AD by Bishop Teodoro and rebuilt in the eleventh century, keeping to the original construction.
Inside you can admire the characteristic mosaic floor, helpful to us today to understand the transition between pagan and Christian religion better.
Moving to Concordia Sagittaria, an ancient colony of the Roman Empire once called Julia Concordia, we find another splendid testimony that marks the transition to Christianity.
This is the Trichora Martyrium, dating from 350 AD, a small basilica with three circular apses that was built to commemorate the persecution of the martyrs of Concordia, by the Roman Emperor Diocleziano.
