Snowplanet is an indoor snow recreation centre in Silverdale on the Hibiscus Coast in New Zealand. Snowplanet is New Zealand's first indoor snow facility and began working in March of 2005. It lies 20 minutes north of Auckland city. The snow dome, approximately 40 × 200 m and built on the side of a hill, features 50 centimeters of real snow , three tows, a terrain park for freestyle skiers and snowboarders and a separate learners slope. The company offers ski rentals and lessons, offers a wide range of programs for all abilities and offers group bookings for schools and businesses. It also has a small store that sells gloves, helmets and socks and offers a range of off-snow services, including; a restaurant & licensed bar, meeting and conference facilities.

Piha is a coastal settlement on the western coast of the Auckland Region in New Zealand with a population of 600. It is one of the most popular beaches in the area and a major day-trip destination for Aucklanders throughout the year, and especially in summer. Piha is 39 kilometres west of Auckland city centre, on the Tasman Sea coast to the north of the Manukau Harbour, on the western edge of the Waitakere Ranges. Immediately to the north of Piha is Whites Beach, and immediately to the south is Mercer Bay; land access to both is only by foot. The nearest beaches accessible by road are Karekare to the south, and Anawhata to the north.

Orewa is a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. It lies on the Hibiscus Coast, just north of the base of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula and 40 kilometres north of central Auckland. Orewa's population was 8,523 in the 2013 Census, an increase of 1,197 from 2006. It is a popular holiday destination. Orewa is also considered one of the fastest growing places in New Zealand and is one of the most expensive areas in which to buy a house.The Northern Motorway, part of State Highway 1, passes just inland of Orewa and extends through the twin Johnston Hill tunnels to near Puhoi. Orewa was administered as part of the Rodney District for two decades, until this was subsumed into the new Auckland Council in October 2010.

Matakana is a small town in the Rodney District of New Zealand. Warkworth lies about 9 km to the south-west, Snells Beach the same distance to the south, Omaha is about 7 km to the east, and Leigh about 13 km to the north-east. The Matakana River flows through the town and into Kawau Bay to the south-east.The surrounding area contains several vineyards. It is also known for its farmers' market, cinema, cafes, restaurants and boutique food-shops. The reasonable proximity to Auckland has led to the region becoming a trendy getaway spot for foodie Aucklanders.From 2018 it is served by 7 buses a day between Warkworth and Omaha. From 2013 it had 5 buses a day and is also served by Mahu City Express. Matakana has had a bus since at least 1930, including buses to Auckland.
