Places to see in ( Portree - UK )
Portree is the largest town on Skye in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. Portree is the location for the only secondary school on the island, Portree High School. Public transport services are limited to buses.
Portree has a harbour, fringed by cliffs, with a pier designed by Thomas Telford. Attractions in the town of Portree include the Aros centre which celebrates the island's Gaelic heritage. Further arts provision is made through arts organisation ATLAS Arts, a Creative Scotland regularly-funded organisation. Portree also serves as a centre for tourists exploring the island.
The Royal Hotel is the site of MacNab's Inn, the last meeting place of Flora MacDonald and Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1746. The town of Portree plays host to the Isle of Skye's shinty club, Skye Camanachd. They play at Pairc nan Laoch above the town on the road to Struan.
The A855 road leads north out of Portree , passing through villages such as Achachork, Staffin and passes the rocky landscape of the Storr before reaching the landslip of the Quiraing. Portree shale is a geologic association in the vicinity of Portree, the existence of which is linked with potential petroleum occurrences of commercial importance.

The Isle of Skye, connected to Scotland's northwest coast by bridge, is known for its rugged landscapes, picturesque fishing villages and medieval castles. The largest island in the Inner Hebrides archipelago, it has an indented coastline of peninsulas and narrow lochs, radiating out from a mountainous interior. The town of Portree, a base for exploring the island, features harbourside pubs and boutiques.
Isle of Skye is the largest and northernmost of the major islands in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The island's peninsulas radiate from a mountainous centre dominated by the Cuillins, the rocky slopes of which provide some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the country. Although it has been suggested that the Gaelic Sgitheanach describes a winged shape there is no definitive agreement as to the name's origins.
The main industries are tourism, agriculture, fishing and forestry. Skye is part of the Highland Council local government area. The island's largest settlement is Portree, known for its picturesque harbour. There are links to various nearby islands by ferry and, since 1995, to the mainland by a road bridge. The climate is mild, wet and windy. The abundant wildlife includes the golden eagle, red deer and Atlantic salmon. The local flora are dominated by heather moor, and there are nationally important invertebrate populations on the surrounding sea bed. Skye has provided the locations for various novels and feature films and is celebrated in poetry and song.

Broadford, the location of the island's only airstrip, is on the east side of the island and Dunvegan in the north-west is well known for its castle and the nearby Three Chimneys restaurant. The 18th-century Stein Inn on the Waternish coast is the oldest pub on Skye. Kyleakin is linked to Kyle of Lochalsh on the mainland by the Skye Bridge, which spans the narrows of Loch Alsh. Uig, the port for ferries to the Outer Hebrides, is on the west of the Trotternish peninsula and Edinbane is between Dunvegan and Portree. Much of the rest of the population lives in crofting townships scattered around the coastline.

British Coast Timelapse Spanning 5 Years (British Beaches)
I have spent the last 5 years collecting bits of footage from around the British Coast, so I've decided to use some of the footage to create this timelapse video. Having made this video I now want to collect even more footage. Looking back watching this video makes me wish I collected even more footage like when we went to North Devon, but I have no footage of North Devon only photos. Oh well I will have to go back. I have 23 different places on the British Coast from every corner of Britain except Ireland but this is an ongoing project.
Places include Staffin Bay Isle of Skye, Coral Beach Plockton, Rubha a' Mhurain (Traigh Beach) near Morar, St Bees Cumbria, Allonby Cumbria, Cayton Bay, Flamborough North Landing, Penmon, Porth Wen, Porth Dafarch, Mwnt Bay, Barafundle Bay, Church Doors, Monkstone Beach, Broadstairs, Durdle Door, Studland Bay, Beer Head, Ladram Bay, Kynance Cove, Pednvounder, Sennen Cove, and St Ives.
