A Região Norte é uma das cinco regiões do Brasil definidas pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) em 1969. Com uma área de 3 853 676,948 km² - a maior entre as cinco regiões - cobre 45,25% do território nacional, sendo superior à área da Índia e pouco inferior à União Europeia. Sua população, também de acordo com o Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), era de 18,1 milhões de habitantes em 2018, equivalente à população do Chile. Seu Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano (IDH), de 0,683 é considerado médio e, em comparação com as outras regiões brasileiras, tem o segundo menor IDH, superando apenas a Região Nordeste.
A região é formada por sete estados, sendo estes: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima e Tocantins. Suas maiores e principais cidades são Manaus e Belém, as únicas na macrorregião que possuem população superior a um milhão de habitantes. Porto Velho, Macapá, Palmas, Rio Branco, e Boa Vista são outros importantes centros regionais. Ela está localizada na região geoeconômica da Amazônia, entre o Maciço das Guianas (ao norte), o planalto Central (ao sul), a Cordilheira dos Andes (a oeste) e o oceano Atlântico (a nordeste). O clima predominante na região é o equatorial, além de algumas regiões de clima tropical. A região é dominada por um importante ecossistema para o planeta: a Amazônia. Registram-se, também, pequenas faixas de mangue no litoral, alguns pontos de cerrado e também alguns pontos de matas galerias. A latitude e o relevo explicam a temperatura. A temperatura e os ventos explicam a umidade e o volume dos rios. O clima e a umidade somados são responsáveis pela existência da mais extensa, variada e densa floresta do planeta, ou seja, a Floresta Amazônica.
A região abriga os dois maiores estados em território no país, Amazonas e Pará. Além destes, os dez maiores municípios em área territorial (quatro no estado do Pará e seis no estado do Amazonas), também estão situados na Região Norte. Outros feitos também são congratulados, como a capital brasileira com maior área, Porto Velho, o segundo rio mais extenso do mundo, Rio Amazonas, e o ponto culminante do Brasil, o Pico da Neblina.

I have been through many valleys in my life, as have most people. We must go through the valleys to get to the Mountain of God. The mountains look awesome from the valleys. Once you are on the Mountain looking down on the valleys, well, they just show you what it takes to get to the Mountain that is God! I loves me some mountains, but the valleys must be endured to reach the Top. Hang in there and Jesus will meet you at the top.

Hoje em Porto Velho fomos tomar banho de rio e visitar a Igrejinha Santo Antônio.
Dos principais banhos de rio, fomos nos balneários Rio das Garças e Cachoeirinha, também conhecemos a Capela Santo Antônio de Pádua, famosa Igrejinha. A noite experimentamos o tradicional salgado boliviano, a saltenha.
Porto Velho é a capital de Rondônia e se localiza na região norte do Brasil, na Amazônia.

A strip of land on the borders of Peru and Bolivia, with over 80% covered by the Amazon rainforest, an arboreal treasure-chest harbouring a unique natural legacy. I received an invitation from my friend Steve Bird to join him and Gina Nichol on one of his Pantanal trips so I did... a no brainer! - great fun birding with Steve and Gina and their groups is always guaranteed (enhanced with Eduardo Patrial as a suber guide and cool cara) and this was not the exception adding a LOAD of lifers for me plus the orgasmic Jaguar experience!
After 10 or so days in Pantanal, Chapada dos Guimaraes and Serra das Araras with the Zoothera lovely group, I did Atlantic Forest birding Intervales State Park for a week with Luiz one of the greatest guides and finest birders in the area for a week adding those badly wanted big antbirds plus a PLETHORA of Atlantic Forest endemics.
To end a great trip, I traveled with my Colombian mate Gustavo Bravo towards Resende where we meet and enjoyed our days with Luciano Lima (AKA Luciano Passarinho!) birding the highlands and lowlands of the Serra da Mantequeira mainly at Itatiaia National Park and also the Serra do Mar looking for really rare and hidding-jewel birds thanks to Luciano endless bird-knowledge of his region!... loads of fun, some beers and great birds again for a week!
550 species of birds recorded from which 285 were life-birds for me... what a marvelous fuck@#ng trip!!!
