This is what it looks like beyond the touristy areas of Bangkok. This quiet Thai neighbourhood is in the local area of Talat Phlu, Thon Buri in Bangkok, Thailand.
I didn't know what I would find down this local Thai street, but it looked quite interesting. So I decided to take a walk down.
Within minutes, I already knew I made a great choice.
There's were olden style Thai homes, modified motorbikes to transport goods and even a local fire station hidden at the very end of the street. Which was unexpected.
But beyond the street is where it got really interesting. I continued walking and it turned into a quiet residential area.
It was very interesting to have experience that, to say the very least.
Locals were around doing their daily routines, like watering the plants, washing the dishes and even playing in a small blow up pool.
It was quite surreal witnessing how some people in this world lives. It gives you a different perspective on life.

Bangkok is the capital and most populous city of Thailand. It is known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon or simply Krung Thep (About this sound listen (help·info)). The city occupies 1,568.7 square kilometres (605.7 sq mi) in the Chao Phraya River delta in Central Thailand, and has a population of over 8 million, or 12.6 percent of the country's population. Over 14 million people (22.2 percent) live within the surrounding Bangkok Metropolitan Region, making Bangkok an extreme primate city, significantly dwarfing Thailand's other urban centres in terms of importance.
Bangkok traces its roots to a small trading post during the Ayutthaya Kingdom in the 15th century, which eventually grew and became the site of two capital cities: Thonburi in 1768 and Rattanakosin in 1782. Bangkok was at the heart of the modernization of Siam, later renamed Thailand, during the late 19th century, as the country faced pressures from the West. The city was at the centre of Thailand's political struggles throughout the 20th century, as the country abolished absolute monarchy, adopted constitutional rule and underwent numerous coups and several uprisings. The city grew rapidly during the 1960s through the 1980s and now exerts a significant impact on Thailand's politics, economy, education, media and modern society.
The Asian investment boom in the 1980s and 1990s led many multinational corporations to locate their regional headquarters in Bangkok. The city is now a major regional force in finance and business. It is an international hub for transport and health care, and has emerged as a regional centre for the arts, fashion and entertainment. The city is well known for its vibrant street life and cultural landmarks, as well as its notorious red-light districts. The historic Grand Palace and Buddhist temples including Wat Arun and Wat Pho stand in contrast with other tourist attractions such as the nightlife scenes of Khaosan Road and Patpong. Bangkok is among the world's top tourist destinations. It is named the most visited city in MasterCard's Global Destination Cities Index, and was named World's Best City for four consecutive years by Travel + Leisure magazine.
Bangkok's rapid growth amidst little urban planning and regulation has resulted in a haphazard cityscape and inadequate infrastructure systems. Limited roads, despite an extensive expressway network, together with substantial private car usage, have led to chronic and crippling traffic congestion, which caused severe air pollution in the 1990s. The city has since turned to public transport in an attempt to solve this major problem. Five rapid transit lines are now in operation, with more systems under construction or planned by the national government and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

So many people think that we are just on vacation when we travel.. we are not. We work online and have a pretty normal daily schedule where we get up around 8, work, have lunch, work some more, get some practical stuff done.
And then comes the bonus.. in the afternoon, we can get out and explore a new country or city. We like being able to travel like this.. but we do miss our friends, so make sure we have plenty of skype dates:)

Thai street food is everywhere in Thailand. It’s cheap and it is really delicious, all the food is cooked fresh as the vendors sell it, it’s some of my favourite Thai cuisine, and there is so much variety of street food in Thailand! Thai Street Food is a must to try if you’re on holidays in Thailand, and there’s loads of street food in Phuket!

This is a look through one of Bangkok's many alleyways in Ratchathewi, Bangkok, Thailand.
I love walking through the back alleyways of Bangkok, I find it very interesting to see what's down these alleyways. Of course, I take great precaution when walking through here, cause you just never know what you're going to come across. So far it has been fine, so let's hope it stays that way.
But all these alleyways a very different and unique. They all have a lot of character and you'll be surprised by what you'll find.
But be cautious if you do wonder through any alleyways in Bangkok.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market (Ratchaburi) - Thailand 4K Travel Channel
The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is Thailand's most famous floating market. It lies about 100 km southwest of Bangkok in the province Ratchaburi.
The floating market has a long history. In the past, Thailand had a poorly developed road network and so King Rama IV commissioned the 35 km long Damnoen Saduak Canal, which connects the Tha Chin River in Samut Sakhon province with the Mae Klong in the Samut Songkharm Province. The canal was completed in 1868, and the fertile soil on the banks offered the best condition for a rich harvest. They farmers sold their products directly on the canal and thus the floating market evolved over time.

Der Damnoen Saduak Floating Market ist Thailands berühmtester schwimmender Markt. Er liegt ungefähr 100 km südwestlich von Bangkok in der Provinz Ratchaburi.
Der schwimmende Markt von Damnoen Saduak hat eine lange Geschichte. Früher hatte Thailand ein schlecht ausgebautes Straßennetz und so lies König Rama IV den ca. 35km langen Damnoen Saduak Kanal bauen, der den Tha Chin Fluss in der Provinz Samut Sakhon mit dem Mae Klong in der Provinz Samut Songkharm verbindet. Der Kanal wurde 1868 fertiggestellt und in der fruchtbaren Erde an den Ufern konnten die Bauern reiche Ernte einfahren. Sie boten ihre Produkte direkt am Kanal an und so entwickelte sich im Laufe der Zeit der schwimmende Markt.

The streets of Bangkok city never ceased to surprise me. Cause I happened to find these amazing street art in Talat Noi, Bangkok.
There's all these little gems hidden all around Bangkok if you aren't afraid to walk down the small alleys of Bangkok city.
These alleyways reminds me of the ones you see in Chinese movies Jacky Chan's movies I should say.
This is a great alleyway and you'll discover many great street art all drawn on the walls.
You don't see many tourists in this area, which could be a good thing because it is somewhat of a local resident. And I'm sure they wouldn't want too many tourists roaming around making a lot of noise all the time.
If you do come, please be respectful and keep the noise to a minimum. Otherwise, happy snaps.

HIDDEN FROM TOURISTS | CHEAP STREET FOOD ONLY LOCALS KNOW ABOUT | Ratchathewi, Bangkok, Thailand
This street in Ratchathewi is hidden from tourist and has the cheapest street food only locals know about.
I discovered this place when I went to eat at P'Aor's famous tom yum soup. This hidden street caters to the locals, which is why it's so cheap.
It has many types of street food all lined up on both sides of the street. So don't be afraid that you won't be able to find something to your liking.
This street is a bit hidden from tourists but not too far from the main tourist spots of Pratunam. You can walk from Pratunam/Platinum Fashion Mall to Ratchathewi or you can take a motorbike, tuk tuk or a taxi.
Walking from Pratunam/Platinum Fashion Mall will take you approx. 25-30 mins to walk there.
You definitely won't be disappointed if you decide to venture there.
Hidden from tourists, but has cheap street food only locals know about.
