Lake Toba on the island of Sumatra is an immense volcanic lake about 100 kilometers long and 30 kilometers wide. Genetic estimates suggests that there were only a few thousand humans that survived the catastrophe. The island in the middle – Pulau Samosir – is the largest island within an island and contains two lakes. Traditional temples, Turtle Island, a Chinese Budhist temple, the Bali Golf and Country Club, the Art Market, the Fish Market and plenty more are also on hand to keep tourists occupied. And let’s not forget that Tanjung benoa is only 30 minutes away from Kuta should you crave a taste of the world-renowned nightlife scene of Bali!
