Taranta Peligna is a comune and town in the Province of Chieti in the Abruzzo region of Italy. It is 57 kilometres from Chieti, and it has a population of 521. Located in the Aventino Valley, at the foot of the Maiella, in the past it was famous for its industry of woolen cloth called taranta, a still thriving activity.The territory, which covers 21.65 square kilometres , is in a predominantly upland area rich with caves, such as the cave of Bue, Asino, and Cavallone or Figlia di Iorio.
