Inakahama beach (永田いなか浜) is a beautiful beach on Yakushima island, Japan, just south of Kagoshima. We got lucky with perfect weather, warm water and only a few people around. This was a great way to relax after hiking the day before which you can watch here

This long beach of golden granite sand in the north west of Yakushima is one of the island's most beautiful beaches. Unfortunately, it is not a designated swimming beach due to its sudden depth and fast current. There is no lifeguards so you swim at your own risk.

Inakahama and its neighbouring beach Maehama are not only popular with sightseers, they are also the largest nesting ground for loggerhead sea turtles in the Asia Pacific region and an important nesting ground for green sea turtles. The turtle nesting season spans from May to August with a peak of over 40 nesting females visiting the beach per night. Baby turtles usually hatch between July and October. Due to its special status as a vital habitat for endangered species, the beaches of Nagata are on the Ramsar list of protected wetlands. Volunteers keep the beach clean and protect the nesting sites.

I took the video on the beach of Uminoeki Hirakawa, Kagoshima City, Japan. You can enjoy eating various taste of seafood while enjoying the beautiful scenery.

I had a very delicious Tuna Donburi (Bowl) at the place.


It takes about 30 minutes by car from Kagoshima Chuo Station.

Karasu-zumo in Kamigamo Shrine, Kyoto

This event is conducted every year in the Kamigamo Jinja in Kyoto.

Karasu means crow and according to the explanation at the shrine, the grandfather of the god venerated at this place took the form of a giant crow with three legs when descended over the land. After, its descendents were called Karasu-zoku.

The two sand piles are a representation of the Sacred Mountains where according to the legend the god of the temple descended. These are called Tate-zuna

Sumo is the traditional grappling/martial art we all know. In the past, Sumo matches had a religious meaning and even nowadays in events like this, having the pure children doing sumo is seen as a way to purify or to pray for good things and repel bad things or disasters.
