  • 2. Cinevilla Tukums
    Cinevilla is a backlot in the Tukums Municipality in Slampe parish, Latvia, and was created for the outdoor shootings of the feature film Defenders of Riga. It is the only backlot in Latvia, and consists of replicas of historical buildings and constructions of Riga, the capital of Latvia. The backlot has a small canal to resemble the Daugava river quays of the Riga old town. The Stone Bridge is also there as well as the historical Lübeck and Pontoon bridges. Cinevilla is now a major tourist attraction, and is the only such large-scale open-air cinema exhibition in the Baltic States. In 2008, Jānis Streičs shot the film Rudolf's Gold on the lot, simulating a Kurzeme farmstead.

    Durbe Manor is a Neoclassical manor house located in Tukums, in the historical region of Zemgale, in Latvia. One of the most interesting classical manor houses in Latvia. Today it houses part of the Tukums Museum collection. Durbe as was first mentioned in written sources as Šlokenbeka manor in 1475. The core of the current building dates from 1671. In 1820, Count Christoph Johann von Medem commissioned Johann Gottfried Adam Berlitz to remodel the façade completely.From 1789 to 1808, Ernst Karl Philip von Grothus used the property as a summerhouse. From 1818 to 1838 the estate belonged to Count Medem, while it later belonged to the Count of Jaunpils von der Recke.     Venta Rapid is a waterfall on the Venta River in Kuldīga, Latvia. It is the widest waterfall in Europe – 249 metres and up to 270 metres during spring floods. Its height is 1.80–2.20 metres and it changes depending on the water level in the river.The Waterfall formed on Devonian dolostone. It formed an obstacle on Venta - medieval inland shipping route and due to this here formed settlement - contemporary Kuldīga. In the 17th and 19th centuries there were started works for building a shipping route around the falls but works were abandoned. Fishing weirs were carved into the stone. They were used to catch salmon and sturgeon. Due to these fishing devices, Kuldīga used to be called to be a town where you can catch salmon in the air. One could catch as many as 80—100 salmon a day . ...

    Bauska is a town in Bauska Municipality, in the Zemgale region of southern Latvia. Bauska is located 66 km from the Latvian capital Riga and 20 km from the Lithuanian border on the busy European route E67. The town is situated at the confluence of the shallow rivers Mūsa and Mēmele where they form the Lielupe River. Average temperatures in January are -5C, and 17.5C in July. Rainfall averages 500–650 mm annually. In previous centuries city was known in German as Bauske, in Yiddish as Boisk and in Lithuanian as Bauskė.
