Villa Mercedes is a city in the province of San Luis, Argentina. It lies on the center-east of the province, on the left-hand banks of the Quinto River, 32 km from the border with Córdoba, on National Route 148, and near the intersection of National Routes 8 and 7. National Route 7 links the city to the provincial capital San Luis, 90 km to the north-west. It had 96,781 inhabitants during the 2001 census [INDEC]. The city was founded by Governor Justo Daract on or around December 1, 1856, as Fortín Constitucional, a mixed civilian-military fort, to protect the territory against attacks by the Ranquel aboriginal tribes. The Lago Potrero de los Funes circuit is a race track originally constructed in 1987, and rebuilt in 2008. It is located 14 km from San Luis, capital city of the San Luis Province, Argentina. The circuit is semi-permanent, with a length of 6.27 km . It was created by modifying the ring road that encircles Lake Potrero de los Funes, at the course's center. The circuit has received very high praise from the drivers for its substantial undulations and numerous high speed corners and bends, which provide a great driving challenge. The track's layout has changed slightly from its original layout. It appears that the curve prior to where the pits are now was tightened to create a more pronounced corner ahead of the pits, and perhaps to reduce speeds on the racing line going past the new pit exit...

Patagonia: Gualjaina area, Chubut Province.Argentina Travel trip, We flew into Esquel and were met by Jorge for our bus ride to Gualjaina and our stay at Hosteria Mirador Huancache. Daniel became our tour guide for the next two days, driving us in his amazing (and huge) Mercedes RV as he introduced us to the incredible beauty and serenity of the Gualjaina area. On the first day out, we explored the area around the small town of Cushamen and El Saltillo's waterfalls and basalt columns, visited an eco-house that is one of thirteen built in the area, (plans and materials courtesy of the goverment), and viewed 3000 year old rock art. The next day, Daniel brought us to Canadon de la Buitrera, situated in the caldera of an extinct volcano. Piedra Parada, petrified wood, rock art, big skies, Patagonian winds, yerbe mate and much laughter were all part of this amazing day. We met with the women of Grupo de Hilanderas, mapuche weavers and spinners, learning about their work and creating felted pieces together. November 2011. Sectrion VI of Weaving Andean Stories:

Torres del Paine boasts several distinct ecosystems; each ecosystem contains a wealth of landscapes, flora, and fauna found nowhere else in the world. More than 40 mammals make their home in the park, including the guanaco, puma, and Patagonian gray fox. Some of the world's rarest bird species -- the Andean condor, crested cara cara, and black vulture among them -- are found in Torres as well.

In its colors and form it is without doubt one of the most fantastic and spectacular sights that human imagination can conceive.
