Vouliagmeni Lake with Inspire 1
Vouliagmeni (Greek: Βουλιαγμένη, meaning sunken) is a seaside town 25 km south of Athens, Greece.
Immediately to the south of town and very close to the sea, a rare geophysical formation is to be found that gave the suburb its modern name: Lake Vouliagmeni (Sunken Lake), a small brackish water lake fed by underground currents.
Because of its constant and comfortable water temperature, the lake functions as a year-round spa.

Λίμνη Βουλιαγμένης / lake Vouliagmeni, Greece
H λίμνη Βουλιαγμένης είναι μια φυσική υφάλμυρη λίμνη με ιαματικές ιδιότητες που βρίσκεται στη Βουλιαγμένη, στην Αττική. Τα νερά της προέρχονται από βάθος 50 με 100 μέτρα και έχουν θερμοκρασία από 22°C μέχρι 29°C, υποδεικνύοντας ότι σε κάποιο βάθος επικοινωνεί με το ηφαιστειακό τόξο του Αιγαίου. Επίσης, η λίμνη τροφοδοτείται από μια πηγή γλυκού νερού σε βάθος 17 μέτρων. Στη λίμνη καταλήγει ένα υπόγειο σπήλαιο που επικοινωνεί με τη θάλασσα με διάφορες στοές. Η λίμνη βρίσκεται στο νότιο άκρο του Υμηττού, κοντά στη θάλασσα. Βρίσκεται μέσα σε μια ελλειψοειδή κοιλότητα με μήκος 260 μέτρα και πλάτος 145 μέτρα. Η λίμνη βρίσκεται μισό μέτρο ψηλότερα από την επιφάνεια της θάλασσας. Εντάσσεται στις περιοχές Natura 2000.
Η λίμνη δημιουργήθηκε όταν τμήμα της οροφής ενός μεγάλου υπόγειου σπηλαίου κατέρρευσε πριν περίπου 2.000 χρόνια λόγω της διάβρωσης και των τεκτονικών κινήσεων, και γι' αυτό δεν υπάρχουν αναφορές από την αρχαιότητα, ούτε καν από τον Παυσανία. Το σπήλαιο βρίσκεται μέσα στα ασβεστολιθικά πετρώματα της περιοχής. Το εξερευνημένο μήκος του σπηλαίου είναι 3.123 μέτρα. Στο σπήλαιο υπάρχουν 14 σήραγγες, ενώ έχει βρεθεί και ένας μεγάλος υποθαλάσσιος σταλαγμίτης. Ο πυθμένας της λίμνης αποτελείται από λασπώδες υπόστρωμα πλούσιο σε θειούχες ενώσεις. Τα νερά της λίμνης έχουν αυξημένη περιεκτικότητα σε μέταλλα και ιχνοστοιχεία, όπως κάλιο, νάτριο, λίθιο, αμμώνιο, ασβέστιο, σίδηρος, χλώριο και ιώδιο. Τα νερά της λίμνης ενδείκνυνται για ρευματικές παθήσεις, αθλητικές κακώσεις, παθήσεις νευρικού συστήματος, δερματοπάθειες και γυναικολογικές παθήσεις.

Yabanaki Beach is the biggest organised sandy beach in Athens, about 30 minutes from the centre of Athens, reachable by car, taxi and bus.
The beach is open from 8am to 7pm every day between June, July and August and from 9am till 5pm in May. During these hours, entrants need to pay an entrance fee.
