When the sun goes down in New Zealand nocturnal creatures like the kiwi bird come out and keep the forest alive. We are joining the Whakatane Kiwi Trust in the Kiwi Capital of New Zealand, Whakatane, to walk in the Ohope Scenic Reserve, home to many kiwi birds in New Zealand. Whakatane is one of the best places to see kiwi birds in New Zealand thanks to the work of the Whakatane Kiwi Trust. It’s also one of the best places to see kiwi in New Zealand so close to a city centre!
If you want to see kiwi in the North Island then Whakatane in the Bay of Plenty region is an excellent place to go. For North Island kiwi spotting, Whakatane is one of the best. Even if you don’t see kiwi birds on this walk, you’ll see many other New Zealand nocturnal wildlife on this Whakatane Kiwi Trust Kiwi Night Walk.
So what do you think of this kiwi tour in New Zealand? Would you add a Kiwi Night Walk with the Whakatane Kiwi Trust to your Whakatane travel itinerary? LUK in the comments!

-- About this video –
Today we are starting the day with a short and classic New Zealand bush walk in the White Pine Bush Scenic Reserve in Awakeri, just outside of the Bay of Plenty city of Whakatane. This Whakatane walk is a great forest walk in the North Island especially if you are low on time. This forest walk in the Bay of Plenty takes only about 30 minutes to complete through stunning forest.
After the White Pine Bush Walk in Whakatane we go to the Awakeri Hot Springs to bathe in the naturally heated geothermal pools. These hot pools in Whakatane are affordable or even free if staying at the Awakeri Hot Springs Holiday Park. We spend the rest of the afternoon in these North Island hot pools in the Bay of Plenty. They are one of the hot springs in New Zealand worth trying.
So what do you think of these New Zealand hot pools? Would you add this walk in Whakatane and Awakeri Hot Springs to your Whakatane travel itinerary? LUK in the comments!

Pronouncing Tewhakarewarewatangaoteopetauaawahiao in New Zealand
Our guide, Girly, teaches us how to properly pronounce the name of her village at Rotorua on New Zealand's north island, Tewhakarewarewatangaoteopetauaawahiao.
I believe the town's names means, The gathering place for the war parties of Wahiao.”
I highly recommend a visit to Whakarewarewa, The Living Thermal Village if you're ever in the area of Rotorua on New Zealand's north island! Although the Maori people in this community have completely opened their village to tourists (including permission to photograph and record) they've done an excellent job of preserving their culture and language. I enjoyed my visit with these people and hope to return again someday.
I have a number of other videos posted on my channel from my visit to New Zealand.

new zealand tour, new zealand travel, The 46 Best Places to Visit in NewZealand
New Zealand is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. The nation geologically contains two principle landmasses—the North Island, and the South Island (or Te Waipounamu)— and around 600 littler islands. New Zealand is arranged about 1,500 kilometers (900 mi) east of Australia over the Tasman Sea and around 1,000 kilometers (600 mi) south of the Pacific island ranges of New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga. In light of its remoteness, it was one of the last grounds to be settled by people. Amid its long stretch of separation, New Zealand built up a particular biodiversity of creature, parasitic and vegetation. The nation's differed geology and its sharp mountain tops, for example, the Southern Alps, owe much to the structural elevate of land and volcanic emissions. New Zealand's capital city is Wellington, while its most crowded city is Auckland.
