Mojave Adventure: Day 1- ZZyzzx Road & Searching for Petroglyphs
A spontaneous road trip to explore a hidden gem in California. The Mojave National Preserve is a huge desert landscape that was formed thousands of years ago from explosive volcanic activity and today is loaded with epic adventure opportunities.
My adventure starts at Zzyzzx Road where a vast dry lake bed has been transformed from recent rains and then I head south on Kelbaker Road to follow directions to an old site featuring petroglyph art on the rocks. Finally, the road turns south east around dark lava flows and cinder cones and I travel down a dirt road to find a place to camp for the night.
