Ixtapa & Zihuatanejo: Two Mexican Beach Paradises
Mexico has so much coastline, it is no wonder it is world famous for its beaches. But I didn't realize how charming some of these beach towns could be until I traveled there this past March. I took my mom, whom had never been to Mexico, and she and I explored the sleepy streets of the fishing village of Zihuatanejo (or Zihua). We shopped for shoes in little markets, ate lunch at a vegan cafe, strolled along the dock for a majestic view of the harbor and dined at mezcal focused restaurant along the beach walk. We even ate a torchlit dinner on the sand at Viceroy Zihuatanejo and took a sunset cruise to admire the Pacific waters and stunning coastline.
But we stayed in Ixtapa, at the breathtaking Capella Resort Ixtapa, where we could admire the ocean from our private infinity pool, the terrace bar, their open air restaurants or even from our luxurious bed. We also took a boat to Isla Ixtapa for snorkeling and beachtime. There's so much more to say about these amazing Mexican paradises but watch the video and then just GO.
Thing to do in ZIHUANTANEJO Mexico | Alternative Travel Guide 2018
Guerrero Mexico has always been on my list of places to go and things to see. The state is beautiful, and doesn't get too many visitors besides Acapulco. We spent a weekend exploring this area, and here is our list of top things to do in Zihuantanejo.
The Fish Market
Every morning at 7:30am down by the basketball court on Paseo del Pescador street, the fishermen lay our their catch for local restaurant owners to purchase for the day. It's a pretty busy spot that early in the morning, and makes for a great way to grab some good photos and start your day.
The Christ Statue
Playa las Gatas is one of the most famous beaches in Zihuatanejo. Here, you come relax and take in the setting sun over the Pacific, and enjoy a drink at any of the beach bars that line the coast. Just off the break water there is a hidden underwater statue of Jesus, with arms outstretched just a few meters below the surface. You can rent snorkels, masks, and fins. Swim out to the buoy attached to his arm and get a view of this interesting attraction
Pozoleria Santa Prisca
Every Thursday this restaurant opens to serve this extremely traditional soup to whoever is brave enough to wait in line. Even if you've tried it before... you have to try it here. This is some of the best Pozole I've had in Mexico. Chili, corn, chicken, it's delicious. You can make reservations to beat the line. We recommend doing it.
El Partenon de Negro Durazo
This abandoned party house was owned by a corrupt police chief who used tax dollars to build it. He picked a beautiful location overlooking Playa la Ropa, contructed a greek style mansion, called it El Partenon, and then went to jail a few years later. It is now in incredible shape after been abandoned for several decades, and worth checking out (by appointment). It really is a special and unique attraction
Mezcalerias
One of my absolute favourite drinks world wide is Mezcal. With thousands of varieties, a very interesting history, and lots of establishments devoted solely to it... You have to spend some time in one of the many mezcalerias in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.

The best beaches in Mexico are definitely Cancun beaches or Tulum beaches, but to find the best beaches in Cancun Mexico you're going to have to look a little further than basic tourist beaches, a trip to the best beaches in Cozumel Mexico might give you a surprise as these beaches can be breathtaking.
Lots of people ask which is better Cancun vs Cabo and I'd give it to Cancun every time. If you're looking for a hidden beach Mexico then we'd suggest you go to Balandra beach.
The best snorkeling in Mexico is all around you, although a specific Mexico beach that is located in Tulum is my favorite, other than that any Gulf of Mexico beaches provides great snorkeling opportunities.
The best beach in Mexico is located in Tulum, you have to visit.
The best swimming beaches in Mexico, in my opinion, are in Cancun for the calm crystal clear water and calm sand. Any beach along that coastline would qualify as the best beach in Cancun, however, finding the least busy would be your best bet.
The best beaches in Mexico for families would also be in Tulum and they would be my recommended list of the best beaches to visit in Mexico.

Zihuatanejo Mexico Vacation 2017 | CDeltaT
Hey everybody and welcome to a very different video. As you can see this is not a video game but instead a trip I took to Zihuatanejo Mexico earlier this year. I went with my girlfriend of 6 years as well as her family and we stayed at a pretty nice condo.
The resort, Grand Marina, was basically empty during our stay so we were fortunate enough to enjoy the pool almost to ourselves. Everyday we would go out into the pool and afterwards walk down the beach and be attacked by the waves. There were a couple of times where we were knocked over.
Along with the pool, beach, and hot tub, we would go into the city and unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, it was a city built for tourism. There was not too much authentic food or shops which was a bit of a disappointment honestly. But when we traveled further away and made it to Ixtapa we had some really great food, the best food we had all trip, for an incredibly low price.
So i want to say that I do not know how to swim, but that did not stop me from going snorkeling. And i will never do that again. The experience and guides were fine its just that my body could not handle it. I got sea sick like halfway through the trip and had to endure that. But hey I did it and learned stuff about myself.
If I ever get the chance to do something like this again I will definitely get a GoPro or some type of waterproof device to capture these moments. Not just so I can cherish and laugh at them but so I can share it with others. I have always enjoyed watching travel blogs and hope to one day be able to see and share those places with others
