The hike to Alamere Falls in Point Reyes National Seashore is one of the best Bay Area gems and a landmark for any park enthusiast. It's almost a rite of passage to touch the falls, and like anything worth seeing, you will need all day to access it. This is a moderate to strenuous 13-mile roundtrip hike with ocean views, backcountry lakes and lush vegetation. You will want to bring plenty of water and snacks, or consider reserving a campsite at Wildcat Camp and make a weekend of it. The unique waterfall generates from Alamere Creek, which falls over the coastal bluffs right onto the beach, and is one of only two falls in the state like this. The falls remain all year, but are best after winter and spring rains.
To get to Alamere Falls, park at the Palomarin trailhead in the southern end of the park.

Alamere Falls is a waterfall in Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County, California. Alamere Falls is a rare tidefall, a waterfall that flows directly into the ocean. It is one of only two in the area, the other being McWay Falls.
Alamere Falls can be reached by following the Coast Trail from the Palomarin Trailhead at the end of Mesa Rd. out of Bolinas, California. After about a mile, the trail will pass two small lakes (Bass Lake and Pelican Lake). Bass Lake can be accessed by a side trail that leads to a rope swing, and hikers will often stop for a swim during summer months.

Alamere Falls Hike - Northern California Natural Wonder
One of the best hikes we have ever experienced in Northern California. Absolutely amazing views and beautiful site to explore. Alamere Falls is a rare tidefall that flows directly into the ocean. We managed to spent a day hiking and admiring this natural wonder deep within the Phillip Burton Wilderness. Spring is the best time to visit. Strongly recommended if in San Francisco area.
Shot with GoPro Hero 4, Canon 5D Mark III, Manfrotto tripod, Two Syrp Genie Minis for panning and tilting. Processed in Lightroom 5. Edited in Premiere Pro.

Alamere falls at high tide - Point Reyes
A waterfalls that flows directly into the ocean.
Started at Palomarin Trailhead.
Hike in about 4.4 miles to the fall.
One of the most famouse and popular hiking trail in Bay area.
I search the high tide time to see this amazing site.
Due to recent rain, the trail to go down to the bottom of the falls was extremely slippery and dangerous.
I have been to this falls many times but this time was the most challenging one.
Start your hike early if you want to beat the crowds.

Directions:Take Hwy #101 to San Rafael, and take the Sir Francis Drake Blvd. exit. Drive 20 miles to Olema, then drive south on Hwy #1 for 9.1 miles to Bolinas Rd. (unsigned). Turn right and drive 1.8 miles to Mesa Rd. Turn right and drive 4.7 miles to Palomarin trailhead.

14 km hike to Alamere Falls
Alamere falls, CA. Crazy hike with a water fall dropping into the Ocean
This is actually a pretty exhausting hike with the trail going up an down the whole way to the falls. Then some climbing is needed to make it to the base of the water fall. definitely bring good hiking foot wear. i wouldn't advise taking kids or pets on the hike if you plan on hiking to the beach area.

Alamere Falls
Alamere Falls is just 30 miles from San Francisco in Point Reyes National Seashore. It is an epic hike that takes you to a rare tidefall that flows from a high cliff straight into the ocean. There are only 3 tidefalls in the United States, two of which are in California!
The Alamere Falls hike is about 8 miles round trip and is pretty flat and well maintained. Just remember to turn left when you reach the arrow of stones that is on the ground. We missed that and got lost and ended up on the coast trail. But luckily the view was incredible, so it was worth getting lost! We met a few others who had overshot the waterfall as well.

HomeMovies: ep.47 Of all the hikes I’ve been on, Alamere Falls is still, hands down, my favorite. I fell in love with the tunnels made of trees. The sight of the ocean is simply magnificent as the birds coast over the surface. And the cold water felt amazing after our trek. I included more raw audio of the ocean and falls in hopes that the sound brings you guys peace just like it did for my soul. A long hike, being around water, and good company really helps with my anxiety. And for a few hours, I was able to run away and disappear.
