Museum in Allahabad Anand bhawan
The Anand Bhavan is a historic house museum in Allahabad, India focusing on the Nehru Family. It was bought by Indian political leader Motilal Nehru in the 1930s to serve as the residence of the Nehru family when the original mansion Swaraj Bhavan (previously called Anand Bhavan) was transformed into the local headquarters of the Indian National Congress. Jawahar Planetarium, the planetarium is situated here, which has been striving to inculcate scientific temper among masses through its sky shows on astronomy and science.
Anand Bhavan was donated to Indian government in 1970 by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the granddaughter of Motilal Nehru and daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru. (courtesy : wikipedia)

Anand Bhavan in Allahabad was the house of Jawaharlal Nehru. Anand Bhavan in Allahabad was bought by Moti Lal Nehru in 1930. Their previous house Swaraj Bhavan was located behind the Anand Bhavan was transformed to the head quarters of Indian National Congress
Anand Bhavan was completely desinged by Moti Lal Nehru. The house was beautifully adorned with the wooden furniture imported from China and Europe and was decorated with various artifacts from all around the world. up Anand Bhavan has an important historic value not only because of its construction but also for the major role that it has played in the history of India.
The Marriage between Indiara Gandhi and Feroze Gandhi was conducted in an open courtyard in Anand Bhavan. Anand Bhavan was donated to Indian government in 1970 by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Swaraj Bhavan located behind the Ananda bhavan was also the birth place of Indira Gandhi.
Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is also located inside the Anand Bhavan Complex

The Anand Bhavan is a historic house museum in Allahabad, It was constructed by Indian political leader Motilal Nehru in the 1930s, to serve as the residence of the Nehru family when the original mansion Swaraj Bhavan (previously called Anand Bhavan) was transformed into the local headquarters of the Indian National Congress. In 1970 Anand Bhavan was donated to Indian government by the, then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the granddaughter of Motilal Nehru and daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru.
After donation, Anand Bhavan was transformed into a museum as a tribute to the Nehru family. The museum showcases the memorabilia of the Nehru family, with a lot of the personal items that were used by Pandit Nehru during his stay. There are also a lot of photos from the meetings of the Indian National Congress, and from the meetings of conspirators who used to gather here to plan their activities against the British rule. You can also find various books and historical records that were written and used by Pandit Nehru during the independence movement of India.
Anand Bhavan is not only a historic museum but also has a science planetarium planted inside the premises of the mansion. The planetarium was built in 1975 and is managed by Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund.

Anand Bhawan, located in the heart of the city is the ancestral home of the first Prime-Minister of India and the freedom fighter, Jawaharlal Nehru. The bhawan has also been home to Indira Gandhi, who was also known as the Iron Lady of India. At present, this place has turned into a fine museum. Several momentous decisions and events related to the freedom struggle also took place inside this bhawan. The main building houses a museum, which showcases the memorabilia of the Nehru family.
In 1970, Anand Bhawan was donated to Government of India by Indira Gandhi. However, this place was later converted into a museum on her behest. The exhibits inside the house highlight the events, which describes the participation of prestigious family in independence of India. The most beautiful parts of the museum are the bedroom of Nehru and his study.
In addition, there is a room which is especially dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, well known as the father of the Indian Nation. He used to stay in this room during his visits to the city. Besides, there is a room which is dedicated to Indira Gandhi where all her belongings are housed. The drawing room of the museum houses the belongings of Moti Lal as well as of Jawaharlal Nehru.
Another interesting section of the place is the study where tourists can glance through several bookshelves that are equipped with titles dedicated to Marx and Lenin. Outside the bhawan, there is an outhouse that houses a picture gallery. This gallery is entirely dedicated to the life of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Anand Bhawan comprises a pair of picturesque mansions, called Anand Bhawan and Swaraj Bhawan, set in parklands. As this estate was the residence of Motilal Nehru, his son Jawaharlal Nehru and granddaughter Indira Gandhi, it now forms a museum memorial with memorabilia related to the Nehru family. This estate was bought by the lawyer, Motilal Nehru in the early 1900s. The building was renovated and its interiors appointed with Mahogany and teak furniture, tapestries, Venetian glassware and Dresden china bought by Motilal Nehru during his trips abroad. It was called Anand Bhavan, house of happiness. This house became a hotbed for political leaders and activists as Motilal Nehru was a prominent member of the Indian National Congress Party. He and his son, #JawaharlalNehru, were actively involved with Mahatma Gandhi’s Civil Disobedience Movement. Motilal dedicated the original building, renamed Swaraj Bhawan, to the nation on 9 April 1930, and it remained the headquarters of the Indian National Congress for many years, and a new two storey house called #AnandBhawan was built from 1927 to become the residence with pillared verandahs and high-ceilinged rooms. The complex was donated by Indira Gandhi to the nation in 1970. It has been turned into a museum exhibiting books, personal effects and photos of Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, who was married here in 1942. The campus also has the Jawahar Planetarium and the Jawahar Bal Bhavan, which runs classes for children. #Allahabad
