The University of Allahabad, informally known as Allahabad University, is a public central university located in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Established on 23 September 1887, it is the fourth oldest modern university in India. Its origins lie in the Muir Central College, named after Lt. Governor of North-Western Provinces, Sir William Muir in 1876, who suggested the idea of a Central University at Allahabad now Prayagraj, which later evolved to the present university. At one point it was called the Oxford of the East. On 24 June 2005 its Central University status was restored through the University Allahabad Act 2005 of the Parliament of India.

1. Anand Bhavan Allahabad
The Anand Bhavan is a historic house museum in Allahabad, India focusing on the Nehru Family. It was bought by Indian political leader Motilal Nehru in the 1930s to serve as the residence of the Nehru family when the original mansion Swaraj Bhavan was transformed into the local headquarters of the Indian National Congress. Jawahar Planetarium, the planetarium is situated here, which has been striving to inculcate scientific temper among masses through its sky shows on astronomy and science. Anand Bhavan was donated to Indian government in 1970 by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the granddaughter of Motilal Nehru and daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple is a Hindu temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India and is dedicated to the Hindu God Hanuman. The temple was established by famous Hindu preacher and poet saint Sri Goswami Tulsidas in the early 1500s and is situated on the banks of the Assi river. The deity was named Sankat Mochan meaning the reliever from troubles.In the temple, offerings to Lord Hanuman are sold like the special sweet besan ke ladoo, which the devotees relish; the idol is also decked with a pleasant marigold flower garland as well. This temple has the unique distinction of having Lord Hanuman facing his Lord, Rama, whom he worshiped with steadfast and selfless devotion.

All Saints' Cathedral, also known as Patthar Girja is an Anglican cathedral located in Allahabad, India.Modeled after 13th-century Gothic style churches, it is among the Gothic Revival buildings built by the British during their rule in India. British architect Sir William Emerson, who also designed the Victoria Memorial, Kolkata, designed the cathedral in 1871. It was consecrated in 1887 and was completed four years later. The church celebrates its anniversary on All Saints' Day and is part of the Church of North India. The cathedral is at the centre of a large open space at the crossing of two of the principal roads of Allahabad, MG Marg and SN Marg.

Khusrau Bagh is a large walled garden and burial complex located in muhalla Khuldabad close to the Allahabad Junction Station, in Allahabad, India. It is roughly two miles from the Akbar built Allahabad Fort. Situated over forty acres and shaped as a quadrangle it includes the tombs of Shah Begum , Jahangir's Rajput wife and the daughter of Maharaja Bhagwant Das and Khusrau Mirza's mother; Khusrau Mirza, Jahangir's eldest son and briefly heir apparent to the Mughal throne; and Nithar Begum , Khusrau Mirza's sister and Jahangir's daughter. It is listed as an Indian Site of National Importance.

Allahabad is a city in Uttar Pradesh state, north India. Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati rivers, is considered holy by Hindus. It’s near the 16th-century Allahabad Fort, built by Mughal Emperor Akbar. In the fort are the ancient sandstone Ashoka Pillar, the underground Patalpuri Temple and a sacred banyan tree. A day in Prayagraj (Allahabad) | Street food plus city Tour

Prayagraj is famous for Kumbh mela, that happens every 12 years. Millions of people come to Allahabad for dip in holy water.

We travelled to Allahabad for a day, started our journey by taking a dip in holy waters, there after explored street food of Allahabad.

Imp. information for travellers: It took us about 3 and a half hour to travel distance of 120 km on taxi between Varanasi to Allahabad.

Though you can do up and down from Varanasi to Allahabad on the same day but it will be better if you do a night halt there and come back on next day.
