Melina Mercouri Tribute- Concert d’ouverture de la Fête de la Francophonie IFG
A musical tribute in memory of the actress and politician Melina Mercouri. It has been successfully presented in Paris, Nantes, Nice, Marseille, Saint Germain-en-Laye, Evry, Sarzeau (Brittany), Geneva, Athens, (the B & M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music), and at the Ancient Theatre of Samos.
In this video, the song of Manos Hatzidakis from the movie 'Stella' by Michalis Kakogiannis, namely 'Efta tragoudia tha sou po'. This performance occurred at the opening concert of the annual Festival of Francophone at the French Institute of Greece in Athens on the 6th March, 2019, exactly 25 years after Melina's Mercouri’s passed away.
As a guest of honour there, Maro Theodorakis, daughter of Giannis Theodorakis (brother of Mikis Theodorakis), songwriter of 'Asteri mou, feggari mou,' (Phaedra), sang this song with Tina Alexopoulou. Tina sang it in the French arrangement of Pierre Maraval.

Η παράσταση εγκαινίασε την έναρξη της γιορτής Γαλλοφωνίας 2019, την ίδια μέρα που συμπληρώθηκαν 25 ολόκληρα χρόνια από τότε που έφυγε η Μελίνα από κοντά μας.
Αποκλειστικά για την παράσταση αυτή στο IFG, η Μάρω Θεοδωράκη, κόρη του Γιάννη Θεοδωράκη (αδερφού του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη), στιχουργού του τραγουδιού 'Αστέρι μου, Φεγγάρι μου' (Φαίδρα), ερμήνευσε τιμής ένεκεν, το εν λόγω τραγούδι μαζί με την Τίνα Αλεξοπούλου στην γαλλική διασκευή του Pierre Maraval.
Ο Σύμβουλος Συνεργασίας και Μορφωτικής Δράσης και Διευθυντής του Γαλλικού Ινστιτούτου Ελλάδος, κ. Mikaël Hautchamp έγραψε για την παράσταση:

Η μουσική παράσταση «20 χρόνια… χωρίς Μελίνα» πρωτοπαρουσιάστηκε το 2014 στο Θέατρο La Reine Blanche στο Παρίσι, ανήμερα της επετείου των 20 χρόνων από τον χαμό της Μελίνας Μερκούρη. Το δίγλωσσο αυτό αφιέρωμα αφηγείται την καλλιτεχνική της πορεία καθώς και το έργο της ως Υπουργού Πολιτισμού. Η παράσταση παρουσιάστηκε στο Παρίσι για ένα μήνα τον Μάρτιο του 2014, και στη συνέχεια ταξίδεψε σε Νάντη, Μασσαλία, Νίκαια, Saint-Germain-En-Laye, Evry, Γενεύη (Ελβετία), Sarzeau, Αθήνα και Σάμο.

Concert d’ouverture de la Fête de la Francophonie

Créé en 2014 au Théâtre La Reine Blanche à Paris pour le 20ème anniversaire de la disparition de Mélina Mercouri, sous le titre 20 ans déjà...Mélina, ce spectacle bilingue retrace son parcours artistique et politique ainsi que son action comme ministre de la culture.
Ce spectacle a été représenté à Paris tout au long du mois de mars 2014 et a obtenu tout de suite un grand succès, puis à Athènes, Nantes, sur l'île de Samos (Grèce), Nice, Marseille, Saint Germain-en-Laye, Evry, Genève (Suisse) et Sarzeau.
L'actrice et chanteuse grecque Tina Alexopoulou, accompagnée par quatre excellents musiciens, rend hommage à Mélina Mercouri d'une manière magistrale. Sa vie est racontée à travers de petits textes et des images d'archives avec pour fil conducteur 20 chansons les plus représentatives de Mélina Mercouri.
Pour ce spectacle exclusivement à IFA, Maro Théodorakis, fille du parolier Giannis Théodorakis (frère de Mikis Théodorakis) qui écrivit entre autres les paroles de la chanson du film Phaedra, chante avec Tina Alexopoulou en français dans l’adaptation de Pierre Maraval.
Le directeur de l'Institut Français d'Athènes Mikaël Hautchamp a écrit pour le spectacle : Magnifique concert qui a permis d’inaugurer de la plus belle des façons notre mois de la francophonie en Grèce. Merci à Tina Alexopoulou pour sa prestation de grande qualité.

12/2/2015 - Βράβευση Γιοβάννας από τον όμιλο για την Unesco Τ.Λ.Ε.Ε, στο ίδρυμα Β & Μ Θεοχαράκη
On the 12th of February 2015, UNESCO A.L.S.G. awarded Yovanna for her significant contribution to the Hellenic Culture, Arts and Sciences, along with the internationally acclaimed Greek opera singers: the bass Mr Dimitri Kavrakos and the soprano Mrs Dimitra Theodossiou, and the poet Mr Georgios Stratikopoulos. Τhe awards ceremony, which was presented by the journalist Mrs Ina Tarantou, took place at the B & M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music in Athens, during the conference of phd candidate in Cultural Diplomacy Mr Peter D. Kapsaskis entitled ''Rome and Athens the eternal cities''.

Katerina Miná is making a name for herself as one of the finest sopranos of her generation. Originally a pianist and a music teacher, Katerina completed a BMus (Hons) Degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Music Performance (Opera) at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Her opera studies were sponsored by the Corporation of London, the A.G. Leventis Foundation, and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. The Greek Cypriot soprano was a prize winner in two international singing competitions, the 1st Concorso Vocale Internazionale di Musica Sacra in Rome, and the 7th Julian Gayarre International Singing Competition in Spain. Katerina is based in London where she continues her vocal studies with soprano Janice Chapman.
Katerina recently sang the role of Violetta from La Traviata in Kuwait, and appeared at Megaron in Athens with the National Symphony Orchestra and Chorus of ERT, in C. Pitta‟s symphonic work 1973 for soprano, orchestra, chorus and electronic sound track. With the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow she performed the role of Nedda I Pagliacci. Most recently Katerina sang the title role from Poulenc‟s opera La Voix Humaine within the Kypria International Music Festival and she appeared as Fiordiligi Cosi Fan Tutte on a tour in the Far-East and Middle-East with European Chamber Opera. Other operatic roles include Donna Elvira Don Giovanni with Staatstheater Cottbus, Mimi La Bohème with European Chamber Opera and British Youth Opera, Karolka Jenufa with English Touring Opera, and Maria West Side Story with Oxford Philomusica.
Concert performances include a most recent concert of David Fanshawe's African Sanctus in Bahrain, the London Song Festival 2010, and Beethoven‟s Choral Symphony no.9 at St. John‟s Smith Square. Other concert performances include Mendelssohn‟s A Midsummer Night's Dream with Stanley Hall Opera, Haydn's Scena di Berenice with the Georgisches Kammerorchester, Charalambous‟ Requiem for Heroes for soprano, baritone, chorus, organ and symphony orchestra, world premières of C. Stylianou‟s song cycles Of the Beautiful Kingdom for voice and piano, A. Sakali‟s oratorio Liturgy beneath the Acropolis with Oxford Philomusica, the orchestral songs of H. Duparc and oratorios of M. Theodorakis with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
Katerina has given numerous recitals and concerts in the UK, Germany, Finland, Italy, France, Japan, Cyprus, Greece, and the Middle East, and has recorded music for ERT, and CyBC Radio and Television. Her performance venues include, amongst others, the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron), Konzerthaus Berlin, Gasteig Munich, Hackney Empire, Buxton Opera House, St. John‟s Smith Square, Sheldonian Theatre, De Montfort Hall, Leighton House Museum, London Hellenic Centre, the „Juhlasali‟ of the Helsinki City Hall, Saint-Louis Cathedral at Les Invalides in Paris, Athenaeum Concert Hall and Theocharakis Foundation of Fine Arts in Athens, and all major theatres in Cyprus.
Katerina represented Cyprus at the Celebratory Concert for the accession of Cyprus to the Euro Area with Christos Pitta‟s symphonic works Helen and Rime d'Amore (world- premiere), and was nominated to represent Cyprus at the 2nd World Delphic Games in Saratov; she performed at the Festivals „Roman River Music‟ in Essex, „EKON‟ in London, „Around the Piano‟ in Athens and „Manolis Kalomiris Festival‟ in Samos. Katerina was selected by British Youth Opera to participate in a Masterclass led by Tenor José Cura.
Future engagements for Katerina include Verdi‟s Requiem at St. John‟s Smith Square, recitals at Megaron in Athens and London Hellenic Centre to celebrate Schumann‟s and Chopin‟s birthday anniversaries, further performances of Violetta La Traviata, appearances at Festivals EKON in London and 'Eure poetique et Musicale' in France, a collaboration with composer Michalis Christodoulides and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, and a special appearance at DJ Ritu's BBC London Radio show 'A World In London'.
Katerina is the winner of the 2008 Singer-of-the-Year Award, of the Annual Madame Figaro Magazine Woman-of-the-Year Awards, and is kindly sponsored by Cosmetics Company LACA CYPRUS
