A short film about the history of the Bartlett Arboretum, a 100 year-old tree museum in Belle Plaine, Kansas. Produced by the Bartlett Arboretum and filmmaker Jaime Green with the support of a Kansas Humanities Council grant.

The Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens in Stamford, CT offers 93 acres of Connecticut's native landscape: magnificent, award-winning Champion tress, charming gardens, wildflower, red maple wetlands, boardwalks, woodland trails, For weekend gardeners to budding botanists, a place to relax, learn and play. Family events include summer concert series, guided tours, children and family educational programs and classes. Come and visit and discover the magic of the Bartlett Arboretum!
Part 13 - Bartlett Arboretum

Bartlett Arboretum is a 93 acre property, in Stamford CT, open to the public - with gardens, a greenhouse and hiking trails. They offer memberships, classes and host conferences - with the focus on botany. As a brief history, in 1913 the area was owned by Francis Bartlett - founder of the Bartlett Tree Expert Company - who used it as his residence and research laboratory. In 1965, the property was purchased by the State of Connecticut - under the Federal Open Spaces Program. It was then opened to the public and managed by the University of Connecticut's Department of Plant Science.
Next door to the Bartlett Arboretum was an unidentified school with dorms. That campus, was explained to me as - UCONN’s satellite campus. My supervisor, at Bartlett Arboretum said that, “College students, from the Department of Agriculture, used to walk over to the Bartlett Arboretum, to attend a few classes that were hosted by Bartlett Arboretum. However, due to budget cuts, the UCONN satellite campus closed down. This is important to note due to the fact that younger children, approximately 8 to 12 years old were being housed at that campus in 2012 through 2014. These children were observed to be every race: white, asian, spanish and african american. That campus, adjacent to Bartlett Arboretum, should not be confused with UCONN’s satellite campus in downtown Stamford at 1 University Place.
Looking on mapquest.com in 2018, the 93 acres of city-owned property, known as Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens at 151 Brookdale Road Stamford CT 06903 does not exist on the map. Nor does the old UCONN satellite campus and dorms that are adjacent to Bartlett Arboretum. In this video I explain what took place there, during my employment in the spring of 2012 through February of 2013.
