ALL ABOARD THE BERNINA EXPRESS | Mountain Biking Bernina to Poschiavo, Switzerland
The bad weather took a day off, so Darco and I took the train from Pontresina up to Ospizio Bernina and descended the Bernina Express mountain biking route into Poschiavo, an Italian-speaking region of Switzerland.
It was killer!

Bernina Express - St Moritz to Poschiavo - Switzerland
This fascinating journey from St Moritz to Poschiavo was for me the ultimate in scenic beauty. From the green valleys to the glacier it was awe inspiring. This was one of the hardest things to film as the train rocks from side to side, and keeping your balance isn't easy.
The Bernina Pass, Switzerland
The Bernina Pass (el. 2328 m.) (Italian: Passo del Bernina) is a high mountain pass in the Bernina Range of the Alps, in the canton of Graubünden (Grisons) in eastern Switzerland. It connects the famous resort town of St. Moritz in the Engadin valley with the Italian-speaking Val Poschiavo, which ends in the Italian town of Tirano in Valtellina. The pass lies a few kilometres east of Piz Bernina. A lower pass is located west of the Bernina Pass, at 2,253 metres.
The Bernina Pass is crossed by road and rail, with a popular tourist train, the Bernina Express operating year-round between Chur and Tirano. The train crosses the lowest pass at 2,253 metres (at Ospizio Bernina) - it is the highest adhesion railway route in Europe.
Lago Bianco, Lej Nair and Lej Pitschen are located on the pass.
LOCAL FLAVOR | Mountain Biking Bernina to Pontresina, Switzerland
After our descent on the Bernina Express mountain bike trail we had a bite to eat at a Poschiavo restaurant called Hostaria del Borgo that does almost ALL local faire. Local meats, local potatoes, local salad, local wine... you get the point!
We took the train from Poschiavo up to Ospizio Bernina and followed the Bernina Express route #673 NORTH back to Pontresina.

Bernina Pass road trip May 2016 (Switzerland)
Uno dei passi di montagna più belli d'Europa.
Il Passo del Bernina che collega Tirano in Italia e Sankt Moritz in Svizzera.
Il Passo è situato a 2328 metri in prossimità del lago Bianco e prende il nome dal Pizzo Bernina alto 4049 metri.
Il video è stato ripreso il 21/05/2016 e parte dal bivio per la Forcola di Livigno verso Sankt Moritz.
La strada è fantastica, perfettamente tenuta e molto sicura.

Cab ride on the Bernina-Express from Pontresina to Poschiavo.
In low season the panorama coaches of the Bernina Express are running with the Regional Express train Pontresina - Tirano. Stops are in Ospizio Bernina and Alp Grüm, there are further stops on request.
At the beginning of the video you can hear the announcement in the trainstation of Pontresina.
Operator of this railway line in Switzerland is Rhätische Bahn.
It's operated in meter gauge.

The road from St Moritz Switzerland to Tirano Italy is a majestic drive. The path takes you over the Bernina pass. On top there is the Lago Bianco Lake. In the winter the ski resorts near by are packed with people, but in the fall this is a very relaxing and scenic drive.
