Black Canyon Of The Gunnison Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
In the west of Colorado there is a mighty crevice in the earth's surface, the Black Canyon Of The Gunnison. For the primeval inhabitants of North America this dark rock landscape must have seemed to be a magical place and was probably something they did their best to avoid but today it is a popular tourist attraction.

Black Canyon, Colorado 2016.
A short Video While camping at the Cedar Creek Campground Montrose, Colorado we decided to see some of the sites around the area. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is a United States National Park located in western Colorado and managed by the National Park Service. Not far from the town of Montrose Colorado. The canyon's name owes itself to the fact that parts of the gorge only receive 33 minutes of sunlight a day. Several canyons of the American West are longer and some are deeper, but none combines the depth, sheerness, narrowness, darkness, and dread of the Black Canyon. Hope you enjoy all the beautiful views and Please like, Subscribe and Share if you like what you see.

The Black Canyon at Gunnison National Park
Big enough to be overwhelming, still intimate enough to feel the pulse of time, Black Canyon of the Gunnison exposes you to some of the steepest cliffs, oldest rock, and craggiest spires in North America. With two million years to work, the Gunnison River, along with the forces of weathering, has sculpted this vertical wilderness of rock, water, and sky.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park Marathon Run
I was joined by my new friend Mike Harsh when I ran the last marathon of the National Parks in the lower 48 states at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado. Mike and I got connected because he is the boyfriend of the sister of Ron Peck who ran the marathon with me at two National Parks, Acadia (the first!) and Rocky Mountain. I was very happy to have someone with me for the last park in the lower 48 and make a new friend who also lives in Denver.
We ran on the north side of the canyon along the rim road, out Deadhorse Trail and then back to summit Green Mountain. It was a hot, dusty and for me an inspiring day. First I was inspired by the canyon and how it is different than any other canyon I’ve seen. And second, I was inspired by Mike who ran only his fifth marathon in his life just for fun, with me at a National Park. That is truly awesome.
The park is not familiar to many people but it should be. The black in the canyon's name refers to the fact that parts of the gorge only receive 33 minutes of sunlight a day. You can rock climb, hike, run, raft or just marvel at the vein like rock walls which reminded me of a heart. It is worth the trip.

North America’s Hidden Treasure | Black Canyon
Do you have a favorite place on Earth? I think I found mine.
———————————————————————————————
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in western Colorado is one of hidden treasures of the North America. This canyon is called Black because some parts of the gorge only receive 33 minutes of sunlight a day. The canyon is incredibly steep, it’s more than 2000 feet tall and it is probably one of the deepest and narrowest canyons I have ever seen in my life.

The Black Canyon - Colorado
In this episode of Cheap Family Travel ( Nick, Regan, Maggie, and Kate traveled to The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado, which just became a United States National Park in 1999. The Black Canyon is unique because it is a relatively unknown national park, so it is not crowded and campsites are available on a first come basis. The Gunnison River rushes through the canyon, creating steep walls and amazing views, especially at the Sunset View and Dragon Point lookouts. Hiking in the Black Canyon is exciting, with interesting hikes with park rangers and more adventurous hikes that go down the steep canyon walls to the river below. The local wildlife is seen throughout the park, including deer that stroll casually through the campgrounds. For a vacation that offers the full national park experience without the crowds and traffic of the more well-known parks, The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is among the most beautiful and enjoyable national parks we've visited.
Exploring Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park || Fulltime RV
While exploring Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park we enjoyed the many overlooks and took our dog Blaze along with us for the ride. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is extremely dog friendly considering most of the hiking here is to the many different overlooks...most of which are dog friendly.

Black canyon. Colorado. US. Winter.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is a United States National Park located in western Colorado and managed by the National Park Service. There are three entrances to the park. The south rim entrance is located 15 miles (24 km) east of Montrose, while the north rim entrance is 11 miles (18 km) south of Crawford and is closed in the winter. The park contains 12 miles (19 km) of the 48-mile (77 km) long canyon of the Gunnison River. The national park itself contains the deepest and most dramatic section of the canyon, but the canyon continues upstream into Curecanti National Recreation Area and downstream into Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area. The canyon's name owes itself to the fact that parts of the gorge only receive 33 minutes of sunlight a day, according to Images of America: The Black Canyon of the Gunnison. In the book, author Duane Vandenbusche states, Several canyons of the American West are longer and some are deeper, but none combines the depth, sheerness, narrowness, darkness, and dread of the Black Canyon.
