Weston Brewing Co. - Startups: Made in Kansas City
Originally established in 1842, the current configuration of the brewery boasts a modern 25-barrel brewing system and continually churns out unique libations on tap and in bottles at stores and restaurants. Last year its Drop Kick Ale became the only local brew to be served at Sporting Park (formerly Livestrong Sporting Park).
American Beer TV - Beer Tasting 79 - Boulevard and Deschutes Collaboration - Conflux No. 2
americanbeertv.net - In contrast to the dark/black IPA phenomenon that is sweeping the craft beer industry at the moment, Boulevard brewing in Kansas City, MO and Deschutes Brewery in Portland, OR got together to create a white IPA. The result is a convergence of a light, spiced belgian wit beer with the dank earthy hoppiness of a west coast IPA. A completely unique beer that must be tried.

Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that's just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard we have fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were experimenting with variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a big surge of fruity aromatics and grapefruit-hoppy notes, the flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish.

Boulevard Brewing Company has grown to be the largest specialty brewer in the Midwest, with full or partial distribution currently in 24 states. Since 1989 our brewery has remained dedicated to the craft of producing fresh, flavorful beers using traditional ingredients and the best of both old and new brewing techniques. Our selection of fine ales and lagers include the Midwest's best-selling craft beer, Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat Beer, our flagship Boulevard Pale Ale, and The Smokestack Series line of artisanal beers. We are proud to be Kansas City's Beer, and Missouri's Largest Independent Brewery.
Boulevard Brewing Company is Missouri's second largest brewery. Founded in 1989, Boulevard Brewing Company has grown to become the largest specialty brewer in the Midwest. Our mission is simple: to produce fresh, flavorful beers using the finest traditional ingredients and the best of both old and new brewing techniques.
Boulevard beers, known for their full flavor, distinctive character, and unsurpassed quality, are currently available throughout Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, Arkansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Massachusetts, and Colorado with partial distribution in Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Minnesota, Texas, Utah, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina as well as the District of Columbia. The GABF Gold Medal-winning Unfiltered Wheat Beer remains our most popular offering. An easy-drinking American-style wheat beer, Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat is the best-selling craft beer in the Midwest.
The Boulevard story begins in 1988, when founder John McDonald started construction of the brewery in a turn-of-the-century brick building on Kansas City's historic Southwest Boulevard. A vintage Bavarian brewhouse was installed, and the first batches of beer were produced in the fall of 1989. That November, the first keg of Boulevard Pale Ale was delivered—in the back of John's pickup truck—to a restaurant just a few blocks away.
Boulevard underwent expansions in 1999 and 2003. In March 2005, Boulevard broke ground on a $20 million expansion project that increases brewing production capacity by an estimated 600,000 barrels/year. The new brewing and packaging building was constructed adjacent to the existing plant.
Introduced in late 2007, the Smokestack Series joined Boulevard's family of beers with year-round, seasonal, and limited edition lines of artisanal selections packaged mostly in 750 ml bottles, while some are also available in 12 oz. bottles and on draft. These bold, complex varieties were inspired by Belgian Trappist beer, and share several characteristics including their higher alcohol content. Year-round Smokestack beers include Double-Wide I.P.A, Long Strange Tripel, The Sixth Glass quadrupel, Dark Truth Stout, and Tank 7, a farmhouse ale. Additional Smokestack beers have been released, including some limited release and some that are available year round.

Today vlog starts off at the Mercedes-Benz dealership to get my skid plate replaced and thankfully that went off without a hitch. Afterward I headed back to the house in order to finish up the upload of the vlog before racing over to the Liberty Memorial and the National World War I museum. The museum was really quite amazing including a number of uniforms, guns and artillery from The Great War. I had no option but to go to the top of the Liberty Memorial since it was a crystal clear day and I was treated to a top notch view of Kansas City.
Later on I headed off to L C's BBQ and had a pork sandwich which wasn't very good. Maybe I timed things wrong or maybe I just don't like Kansas City BBQ but it definitely underwhelmed me.

Clinic Stories: Democracy Brewing
Last summer, with the help of Harvard Law School's Transactional Law Clinics (TLC), Democracy Brewing became the first brewery in Massachusetts to launch as a worker-owned owned business. TLC, a clinical program of Harvard Law School which provides legal assistance to small businesses and entrepreneurs, helped the downtown Boston brewery incorporate, including setting up a direct public offering to raise the initial capital needed to start the business. Democracy Brewing Co-founders James Razsa and Jason Taggart; Joe Hedal, Deputy Director of HLS' Transactional Law Clinics; and Hillary Baker-Jennings ’16, one of several TLC clinic students who advised the fledgling company, reflect on the process of getting Democracy Brewing from an ambitious idea to a thriving business.

How Dollar Stores Really Make Their Money
Every year, dollar stores see higher and higher earnings, but how can a store that seems like it's giving things away turn itself into a multi-billion-dollar enterprise? The answer is simple: that dollar isn't always the great deal it appears to be. Here are their secrets.
Whether times are good or bad, you can still count on people to flock to dollar stores because they have the one thing everyone loves: convenience. Sales for Dollar General are always on the upswing, with the chain seeing an increase of 3.7 percent between 2017 and 2018, regardless of the state of the economy. Take it from Dollar General CEO Todd Vasos, who had this to say about their regular customers:
We have seen no sign of trade out or trade up from our core customers. Even in a good economy, [they are] still looking for value and convenience.
So, basically, no matter how much money people have, they still want something that bigger grocery stores can't give them. Dollar stores are not just convenient because their items are cheaper, but also because there seems to be one on every corner — and that makes them perfect for a quick fill-in trip between your weekly grocery runs. These stores are also typically smaller than the ones in a big chain like Walmart, which means that you can usually get in and out with your emergency bag of dog food, a handful of snacks, or supplies for your kid's art project in just a couple of minutes. The fact that most people are on to this, means dollar stores are always making money — even if customers buy just a few things.
Watch the video to learn how dollar stores really make their money!
