In today’s travel vlog, we checked out of our weird hostel and tried to walk to our cruise port which turned out to be a terrible idea. Thankfully Uber came to the rescue and took us to the most beautiful cruise ship we’ve ever been on. We got a special surprise when we arrived to our room and then toured the ship!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started traveling full-time January 10, 2016. While daily vlogging was not the original plan, we were having way too many cool experiences not to share every single day! Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
We’ve pulled inspiration from several of our favorite travel vloggers on YouTube, such as: +Casey Neistat +FunForLouis +Jon Olsson +Mr Ben Brown, and any other talented travel vloggers that YouTube’s algorithm will hopefully connect us with ;)

We run 12 different Anzac Day Tours. All tours include entrance fees, several meals, no camping, tents or cheap hostels like other Anzac operators! Our accommodation is only in 3 & 4 star hotels! Grand Bazaar
Kapalıçarşı
Kalpakçılar Caddesi, the gold jewellers' road, is one of the 61 covered streets inside the Grand Bazaar.
Location Istanbul (historically Constantinople) Turkey
Type Covered Bazaar
Beginning date 1455
Completion date After 1730
Dedicated to Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror
The Grand Bazaar (Turkish: Kapalıçarşı, meaning Covered Bazaar; also: Turkish: Büyük Çarşı, meaning Grand Bazaar) in Istanbul is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, with 61 covered streets and over 3,000 shops which attract between 250,000 and 400,000 visitors daily.
The Grand Bazaar is located inside the walled city of Istanbul, in the district of Fatih and in the neighbourhood (Turkish: Mahalle) bearing the same name (Kapalıçarşı). It stretches roughly from west to east between the mosques of Beyazit and of Nuruosmaniye. The Bazaar can easily be reached from Sultanahmet and Sirkeci by trams ( Line T1, tram stop Beyazıt-Kapalıçarşı).
The Iç Bedesten has a rectangular plan (43.30 m x 29.50 m). Two rows of stone piers, four in each row, sustain three rows of bays, five in each row. Each bay is surmounted by a brick dome with blind drum. In the inner and in the outer walls have been built 44 cellars (Turkish: Mahzen), vaulted rooms without external openings. The sunlight in Bedesten comes from rectangular windows placed right under the roof: they can be accessed through a wooden ambulatory. Due to the scarce illumination, the edifice was kept open only some hours each day, and was devoted to the trade of luxury goods, above all textiles. Moreover, the Bedesten's Mahzen were also used as safes The building can be accessed through four gates: Second-hand book sellers Gate (Turkish: Sahaflar Kapısı) at North, Skullcap sellers Gate (Turkish: Takkeciler Kapısı) at South, Jewellers Gate (Turkish: Kuyumcular Kapısı) at East and Woman clothes Seller Gate (Turkish: Zenneciler Kapısı) at West.
The Sandal Bedesten has also a rectangular plan (40.20 m x 42.20 m), with 12 stone piers bearing 20 bays surmounted by brick domes with blind drum. In this case shops are carved only in the outer walls. In both edifices, each bay is tied to the others through brick arches tied by juniper beams, and masonry is made with rubble. Both buildings were closed by Iron gates.
Aside the Bedesten, originally the Grand Bazaar structures were built with wood, and only after the 1700 fire, they were rebuilt in stone and brickwork, and covered. All the bazaar edifices, except the fur dealers market (Turkish: Kürçküler Çarsısı), a later addition which is two-story, are one story. The roofs are mainly covered with tiles, while the part burnt in 1954 uses now tarmac. In the bazaar no artificial light was foreseen, also to prevent fires, and smoking was strictly prohibited. The roads outside the inner Bedesten are roughly parallel to it. Anyway, the damages caused by the many fires and quakes along the centuries, together with the repairs done without a general plan, gave to the market - especially in its Western part - a picturesque appearance, with its maze of roads and lanes crossing each other at various angles.

Vlogging My Life in Bodrum
22 June 2017 VLOG #118
We've changed a lot of places just in 2 month. First, we've moved out from our house to Moda. Then started our vacation in Ören and now settled in Bodrum for the next 3 month.
This episode is not the first vlog in Bodrum. I had to give a little break because we were very tired and just wanted to rest a little in the new house which is not shared with somebody else.
Unfortunately, I got very sick again after 2 days - this time, it was food poisoning. Stay tuned ;)

Entry Title: Aegean Odyssey
Entry:
June 11-17
Şirince-Ephesus-Priene-Bozburun
Favorite experiences:
- Ephesus, a beautiful, incredibly intact Roman ruin with centuries and centuries of history
- Priene, Ionian/Roman ruins- a complementary, completely opposite but equally enjoyable experience in a beautiful setting
- Bozburun, idyllic little gullet-building town at the end of the Hisarönü peninsula
o Swimming in the Aegean again after 17 years
o Hopping around in our little motorboat, discovering our own bays, islands, ruins with nobody around
o The Dolphin Hotel, truly an Aegean oasis
Least favorite experiences:
- The drive from Şirince to Bozburun is uninteresting, lined with recent characterless concrete structures (6 hrs total). Road construction almost the entire way (during tourist season?)
- The heat! People told us it was 43- 46⁰C (108-115⁰F!), perhaps 50⁰ warmer than home.
Tips:
- Be prepared, there are no ATMS or change offices in Bozburun
- Bring good insect repellent. I tried to stay DEETed up, but was still a tasty treat for many critters.
- SAVOR the stunning Sea.

Ancient Ruins and Cruise Ship Hordes
And begins our tour. We are off on an easy AtlasJet flight to Izmir to pick up our car for the next several days. After about an hour and a half of waiting at the airport and a phone call to Almira Car Rentals (booked on economycarrentals.com for about half the price), someone showed up to cart us off to the nearest Petrol station where the Almira representative SLOWLY did our paperwork in the 100⁰ heat on the trunk of the car. It turned out to be a very nice tactic to try to force us to pay in cash, which we don't have. (Perhaps my translucent skin tipped him that I am heat-intolerant.) After 4 credit cards did not work, we nicely mentioned the words airport and Budget and the 5th one miraculously worked. We filled up our little Hyundai (petrol= $9+/gallon) and took off toward Siğacik, a little town near Teos ruins. We decide to just grab lunch and head for our hill town for the night. Siğacik is a quiet little harbor town, a supposed nice alternative to the Çesme resorts. I just really wanted shade and water, knowing there is no A/C around. We found a tiny little courtyard with a fish restaurant and a character straight out of Never on Sunday to welcome us, convincing us that the fish is excellent and very little price. We happily devoured our pide (pizza-like meal) and fine grilled sea bream but talking with the owner was the highlight. We were tempted to stay around for music and dancing later just to see what developed.
Sated and HOT, it was off to Şirince (near Ephesus), a hilltown settled in the 15th century by freed Greek slaves. The village, primarily 18th century structures, climbs up and down the hills,. The story goes that settlers originally named it Çirkince (ugliness) to keep others away because it was so beautiful. The governor renamed it Şirince (prettiness) in 1924. It is a beautiful little wine-growing town (mainly fruit wines), a bit cooler in the hills. Unfortunately, it was long ago discovered by the cruise ships, so is primarily lined with souvenir shops and packed with tourists during the day. It is a pleasant place to be in the morning and evening. We got a kick out of watching the tiny trains bring in loads of carefree kids on the weekends (consider timing a visit during the week). Here we got our first lesson in what a butik ...
