360 VIEW-SAN DIEGO-CALIFORNIA TOWER-MUSEUM OF MAN-CANNIBALISM EXHIBIT-BALBOA PARK-EP50
We found ourselves back at Balboa Park in San Diego, CA and took a tour of the famous California Tower. This building was constructed for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. The 360 degree San Diego Skyline view is amazing. All of the upper floors of the tower building were closed in 1935 to the public. After 80 years, it was finally opened in 2015, and people have been enjoying it ever since then.
This upper portion of the tower is scheduled to close AGAIN for some earthquake restraint modifications, so it could be closed during your visit. Balboa Park has so many things to do, that when it closes temporarily, you will still have tons of other things to see.
The tower also houses the Museum of Man which has many fascinating exhibits. The exhibit explores the tragic events and issues that has forced others to resort to cannibalism. Famous cases where people had no other choices to survive are displayed, studied and discussed.
Balboa Park is home to many museums, multiple performing arts venues, and lovely gardens. The Spreckels Organ is the largest outdoor organ in the world and was built in 1914 for the 1915 Panama-California International Exposition. It’s the first-of-its-kind organ designed to “roll out” and play for an outdoor audience. It is constructed with over 5,000 pipes to bring the sound alive. They have free organ concerts every Sunday afternoon!

California Tower in Balboa Park, San Diego California, USA
San Diego Sightseeing, California Tower in Balboa Park, San Diego California, USA
The California Tower is a detailed, portion of the California Building Balboa Park
California Tower. Church Building and Bell Tower with Weathervane! Unknown Unseen Side of California Building seen from below at Archery Range in Balboa Park.
The California Tower, the soaring, intricately detailed, portion of the California Building, is an icon of San Diego, and can be seen from miles around. The building houses the San Diego Museum of Man.
Constructed for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, this beautiful structure is an architectural hybrid of architectural different styles, including Baroque, Plateresque, Churrigueresque, and Rococo, with some Gothic details. Designed by Bertram Goodhue, who included intricate ornamentation, arched arcades, carvings and busts, and colorful tile adorning the tower and domes, the building is reminiscent of the Spanish-Colonial churches in Mexico that inspired him.
The California Tower at the San Diego Museum of Man will temporarily be closed to the public beginning Monday, February 18, 2019, when the City of San Diego commences a seismic retrofit of the historic structure. Public Tower tours will resume when the Tower reopens at the completion of the seismic retrofit, which is anticipated to last seven to ten months.
Tower 180 Luxury Condo site, Broadway & 2nd Ave San Diego California
I asked for work here and they wouldn't talk to me about getting work/offering me work.
All workers observed(over 10)latino, speaking spanish, no white/black workers seen except one directing traffic and not working on building, who had a foreign accent(not USA born).
This describes virtually all construction sites I have investigated and applied for work at in San Diego and LA.
They have all denied me work and all employ foreign, Spanish speaking Illegal alien Latinos. One supervisor on the Holland condo site in LA told me point blank I had to know Spanish.
The worst criminal employers I have identified are Bosa contractors, Swinerton, (Clyde)Holland, Suffolk(Ozarks bank).

Southern California's Last Pro Fire Lookout Tower
Two of the most destructive wildfires in San Diego County history ravaged San Diego County communities in late October. Wildfires in 2003 and 2007 helped fuel an ongoing push to develop better and more sophisticated firefighting tools. KPBS Business and Environment Reporter Erik Anderson says technology is being applied in innovative ways, but it has yet to squeeze out one fire detection method that has served firefighters for decades.

McConkey Residence: Shipping Container Home in San Diego, California
McConkey Residence: Shipping Container Home in San Diego, California. In this video we bring to you a Charming California cottage built from three recycled shipping containers, the first of its kind in San Diego County. The McConkey Residence, designed by OBR Architecture, was first shipping container home in San Diego County. The home it’s a hybrid of 3 recycled 20 foot shipping containers and stick frame structure forming 800 square feet of living space. McConkey Residence has high as 13 feet between the containers to make the small space feel larger and to allow for natural cooling. Because the area is prone to wildfires, the windows and roof incorporate flame-retardant materials in the event of wildfires. In addition, the original container cargo doors were left in place and act as moveable external shading for aluminum-framed dual-paned windows when the family is using the house; when they’re away, the doors can be closed to help secure it and protect against possible bushfire. Watch this video Here: .The owners, built most of the McConkey Residence themselves which kept things affordable. They stayed on budget on the interior furnishings by mixing IKEA and reclaimed items with a few high end pieces.
