JAPAN Calligraphy in Kyoto
While walking through a temple in Kyoto my eyes had the luxury to observe calligraphy in motion. WOW, it was a dance with ink and paper and the hand motion. The strokes just keep going until it is complete! No doubt whatsoever.

Shodo: Japanese Calligraphy with Tsubasa Kimura 【HD】
Shodo is the word for traditional Japanese calligraphy, a beautiful art that expresses a lot more than just the meaning of the characters written: the soul and the feelings of the person writing.
This ancient culture is very popular in Japan, where many people of different ages practice it as a hobby in their free time. Through the study and practice of Shodo, people can experience and directly interact with this special art form, that helps to develop not only your artistic skills but also your mind and heart.
Shodo Master Tsubasa Kimura is currently working to spread the Shodo culture and knowledge all over the world, visiting and holding workshops and demonstrations in different countries. Here some links with info on Kimura Sensei.

Kyoto Fan Event! Japanese Calligraphy Workshop 2012 【HD】
Shodo Master Tsubasa Kimura joined us on the second Kyoto Fan Event of the year, this time to share with us the amazing art and culture of Japanese Calligraphy.
People from Kyoto and other parts of Japan, and people from many different countries came and had the opportunity to learn the basic concepts and techniques of Shodo. We also enjoyed a brilliant lecture on the history and tradition of this millenarian art.
As a special performance for the attendees, Kimura Sensei wrote the Iroha Uta on a 4 meters long piece of washi paper.
Kimura Sensei is going on a trip around the world to share and show the art and culture of Shodo with the people abroad, and maybe she is going to visit a city near you!

NHK Core Kyoto - Fusuma Paintings: Artful Partitions Transform Space
Fusuma are uniquely Japanese fittings, dating back a millennium, that act as partitions, sliding doors and walls. Painting them can transform a room's ambience. Fusuma paintings have evolved in keeping with the times, space, and patrons and artists' tastes. In the 1500's, magnificent paintings became signs of the wealth and power of the samurai class. In temples, ink paintings conveyed Buddhist teachings. Discover how fusuma paintings have raised furniture to the level of art.
