Hiking trails around Cape Blanco Light House, The Sixes river and the Historic Hughes House
Cape Blanco Lighthouse is the westerly most point in the continental United States. Located just north of Port Orford the area has a campground and numerous hiking trails that provide easy day hikes along the beach, sixes river and past the historic Hughes house.
Cape Blanco, Oregon road to beach
Cape Blanco Campground is one of the best campgrounds on the Oregon Coast as far as I am concerned - it is far from the highway and extremely quiet and incredibly beautiful. First come First serve
Cape Blanco is a prominent headland on the Pacific Ocean coast of southwestern Oregon in the United States, forming the westernmost point in the state. Cape Blanco extends further west than any point of land in the contiguous United States (lower 48 states) except Cape Alava in Washington. The cape is part of Cape Blanco State Park and is the location of the Cape Blanco Light, first lit in 1870.
The cape may have been named by explorer Martin de Aguilar in 1603 for its appearance, as blanco means white in Spanish In 1775, Juan Francisco de la Bodega y Quadra named the point Cabo Diligensias. It was later renamed Cape Orford by Captain George Vancouver in 1792 but this name fell into disuse and Cape Blanco became the common usage.

Another Scottie Sunday with Gus and Friends - 5/13/2018
We didn't wander far this week, just 8 miles as the crow (or seagull) flies from my back deck to Cape Blanco Lighthouse. It is the most westerly point in the contiguous United States. Come with us, subscribe for a new Scottie video every month.
Lighthouse details:
Cape Blanco Lighthouse is located on Cape Blanco, Port Orford, Oregon, United States in Cape Blanco State Park.
Address: 91100 Cape Blanco Rd, Port Orford, OR 97465
Hours: Grounds open dawn to dusk. Tours 10 A.M.- 3:15 P.M.
Phone: (541) 332-2207

On December 20th, 1870, the lighthouse began operation and began to warn ships away from the reefs and to provide a position fix for navigators.
This isolated lighthouse holds at least four Oregon records: it is the oldest continually operating light, the most westerly, it has the highest focal plane above the sea, (256 feet), and Oregon’s first woman keeper, Mabel E. Bretherton signed on in March 1903.

Cape Blanco Oregon on a calm day from Easy Star Flip cam
Such a beautiful calm day at the western most point in the contiguous United States. Cape Blanco is usually very windy and a great place for rc sailplanes. Winds here often reach hurricane force during the winter storms.

Paradise Cafe
Paradise Cafe is a country style restaurant on the Oregon coast in the town of Port Orford. Port Orford is the westerly most town in the continental United States and just celebrated it's 150 year anniversary making it the oldest town on the Oregon coast. Also unique to Port Orford is it's Port. Due to the rough seas boats are not parked in the water, rather they are lifted onto trailers and parked on the dock. There is only one other 'dolly dock' in the USA located in southern California. A look into the daily lives of local fishermen can be experienced on a good weather afternoon by visiting the port and watching the fishing boats unload their daily catch of Tuna, crab and many other types of seafood including exotic varieties shipped live to China town in San Francisco.

This episode of Oregon Lifestyles features the southern Oregon coast and uses the town of Gold Beach as a home base for exploring this exciting region of natural beauty and adrenaline packed adventure. Part Two.
Tidewind Sport Fishing is just one of many Ocean charters on the southern Oregon coast. Located in Brookings Oregon you can go after rock fish and Ling cod.
Just an hour away inland is the Out N About treesort and the treehouse Zip lines. There is a Tarzan swing and the zip line course is one of the largest in the world.
The trees of mystery are just a short drive away as is Ocean world in Crescent city. The Redwoods are simply amazing and must be seen to be believed. Cape Blanco just north of Port Orford is one of the oldest working lighthouses on the coast. At the west coast game park it is possible to hold baby animals and we have visited them many times. The Oregon Dunes are the largest expanse of coastal sand dunes in the United States and provide an area for camping, riding ATV's, kayaking, hiking fishing and many more activities.
Gold Beach Oregon is a great homebase for your southern Oregon Coast adventure.
