Cape Blanco State Park-Oregon VLOG #44
This video is about our recent visit to Cape Blanco State Park near Port Orford, Oregon. Granted, I didn’t cover everything. I did miss out on the Hughes House which is in the park, but was not open when we were there. It is a historic house so be sure to stop buy and see it as it looks quite interesting.
This Oregon State Park is one of our favorites. Quiet, comfortable and lots of places to hike and walk. It’s located right on the Oregon Coast Trail and has a great spot for hikers and bikers that are cruising through.

Battle Rock City Park - Port Orford, Oregon - BEAUTIFUL!!
Battle Rock City Park - Port Orford, Oregon
Port Orford, Oregon along the coast is a must stop destination
History: Battle Rock City Park
Battle Rock City Park has been dedicated in memory of the ancient people (Dene Tsut Dah) and the pioneer founders of Port Orford, Oregon.
In 1850, the U.S. Congress passed the Oregon donation Land Act. This act allowd white settlers to file claims on Indian land in western Oregon although no indian nation had signed a single treaty.
Capt. William Tichenor of the steamship Sea Gull landed nine men on June 9, 1851, for the purpose of establishing a white settlement.
This resulted in deadly conflick between the two cultures. For two weeks, the nine were besieged on the island now called Battle Rock. Under cover of darkness, the party escaped north to Umpqua City.
In July, Capt. Tichenor again arrived with a well-armed party of seventy men and established the settlement now called Port Orford.

Cape Blanco, Oregon and surrounding areas
Cape Blanco was one of the best stops on the Oregon coast. The camp ground there is fantastic. It sits right on top of the Cape near the light house. The trails offer great short and long treks along and down to the shoreline.

Salmon at Mouth of Sixes River near Cape Blanco, Oregon
Took this photo last week at the mouth of the sixes River. At about the 17 second mark look to the right bottom quarter of the frame and you will see a large salmon fighting upstream as its back entirely leaves the water. You might want to turn the volume down a bit, as the wind was howling loud just then.

It was a beautiful morning for a walk at nearby Cape Blanco State Park, located a few miles north of Port Orford, Oregon. I used my Gopro Hero 4 Silver camera to record the clips in 2.7K, 30 FPS video.
