Yount’s Woolen Mill Archaeology Analysis & Exhibit Development

Over the course of 3 semesters (Summer 1, Summer 2 and Fall 2014) this project team conducted a historical and archaeological study of the Yount’s Woolen Mill and Boarding House in Montgomery County, Indiana. Students in this class had the opportunity to do lab work to analyze artifacts from the archaeological dig on this site and contributed to a published book on the history and archaeology of the mill. They also had the opportunity to design and build a museum exhibit for the Carnegie Museum of Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Small Museums, Big Impact 2011 AASLH Annual Meeting Session

At the 2011 AASLH Annual Meeting in Richmond, representatives from three small museums share their successful experiences in partnering with local organizations, serving as models of how a small museum can have a significant impact on its local community.

Presenters opened the floor for audience members to share their own experiences with community involvement.

The Cruisers for Christ and other news from The Paper

Cruisers for Christ Crawfordsville Chapter of Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) presented the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department with five cases of stuff animals. These animals will be used by the Sheriff’s Department during their service calls to help give children something soothing to hold onto during times of crisis.

The Cruisers for Christ will have their annual Run For Son on May 2 with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Wal-Mart parking lot. Kick stands go up at 11 a.m. and the ride will end at the Whitesville Chirstian Church with an auction, food and music by the Smartsburg Pickers.
Friday, you can find a refuge of literary excitement at the Carnegie Museum as local author and artist Kelly O’Dell Stanley releases her book entitled “Praying Upside Down: A Creative Prayer Experience to Transform Your Time with God.”
The release party takes shape in the form of an open-house with everyone invited. Stanley will be signing books throughout the day, as well.
