Cathedral Church of the Redemption also known as Viceroy Church, is among the most beautiful and magnificent churches in India. The church is located east of Parliament House in New Delhi and Rashtrapati Bhavan which was used by then British Viceroy. The Church resembles the shape of a birthday cake with a candle placed on top. The Church derives its name from Palladio's Church of Il Redentore in Veniceas well as Lutyens St Jude's Church, Hampstead Garden Suburb. The Cathedral Church of the Redemption India, is a part of the Delhi diocese of the Church of North India.
Cathedral was designed by Henry Medd. Cathedral was built in such a manner that even in the extreme summers it remains cool and serene. The Church has beautifully curved high arches and delicate domes, which won the heart of the then Viceroy Lord Irwin, Lord irwin gifted an organ and a silver Cross to the Church.
The Cathedral Church of the Redemption traces its origin to the early 1900s. when Rev. T.R. Dixon was appointed as the Chaplain to meet the spiritual needs of the British officers in the Capital of India. The Cathedral was built in eight years and was completed in the year 1935. The Cathedral Church was opened to public worship on Sunday, 18 January 1931.

Henry Medd, who won many architectural competitions, designed this simple yet attractive cathedral built between 1927 and 1935. The Anglican Church has small recessed openings, which has dual purpose. Firstly, it filters the sunlight and secondly, it forms a great spectacle of light and shadow. There is a very large eye catching stained glass window. The cathedral hosts religious concerts on festivals such as Christmas and Easter every year. It is located near Connaught Place, New Delhi.

L' Accademia di Musica presents SACRARIUM - Sacred Music In Our Time works by Schubert, Rachmaninov, Tachaikovsky, JS Bach, Cassini, JF Handle, Debussy, Faure, Monteverdi at the Cathedral Church Of the Redemption in New Delhi.
The Delhi Chamber Choir was founded in Delhi in 2007 by Gabriella Boda Rechner, and has been holding Western Classical music concerts in India ever since. It is now conducted by Nadya Balyan, a Russian national married to an Indian and settled in Delhi. DCC, as it is known, works with the support of the Neemrana Music Foundation and occasional or regular private sponsors.
The vocation of the choir is to select experienced singers, Indian and Foreigners alike, and to make Western classical music better appreciated in India in its variety, from Medieval to Contemporary times, from sacred music to opera. It strives to bring to India international quality standards in choir singing.
DCC has performed at Teen Murti Auditorium, Redemption Church, Baha'I Auditorium, the French Embassy. It has been invited to take part in Delhi International Art Festival, and has been repeatedly invited to sing the European and Indian Anthems at the European Union yearly reception. One of the highlights of its short life was a memorable performance of Mozart's Requiem at Kamani Auditorium in 2008, under the direction of Yves Parmentier, who came specially from France to work with the choir, with the support of the Neemrana Music Foundation. DCC is also regularly asked to perform at private functions.

The story of the Cathedral Church of the Redemption India revolves around its journey from an Englishman's congregation to a multicultural one. In its diversity and its community work, the present Church has come to fulfill the founders' vision of a common home, a meeting place for all sects and creeds.
Tucked away from the bustle of New Delhi, in the quiet Church lane north of Jaipur Column and to the west of Parliament House at North Avenue, stands the Cathedral Church of the Redemption India. The Church's centralized plan blends neatly with Sir Edwin Lutyens's city plan. With Viceroy Lord Irwin's keen support, the Church, built on Henry Alexander Medd's (1892-1977) design, was opened for public worship on Sunday, 18 January 1931. H.A.N. Medd's design was inspired by the Palladio Church of Il Redentore in Venice as well as Lutyens Hampstead church.
