Papa Francis / Washington Visit - Saint Matthews Bishop Gathering - Part 1
Papa Francis meets with the United States bishops - Prayer and Homily at Cathedral of St Matthew the Apostle, Washington DC., Rev. Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Msgr. W. Ronald Jameson, Cathedral Rector.
Massive Illuminati Temple In Washington DC!
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is a prominent Roman Rite Catholic basilica located in Washington, D.C., United States of America, honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Immaculate Conception, the principal Patroness of the USA.
The shrine is the largest Catholic church in the United States and North America, one of the ten largest churches in the world, and the tallest habitable building in Washington, D.C.[1][2][3] Construction of this church, notable for its Neo-Byzantine architecture, began in 1920 under Philadelphia contractor John McShain. It opened unfinished in 1959 and currently hosts an estimated one million pilgrims each year.
The basilica is designated both as the national and patronal Catholic Church of the United States,[1] honoring the Virgin Mary, under the title Immaculate Conception, by which Pope Pius XI donated a mosaic of the same image in 1923. The basilica is not the cathedral church of the Archdiocese of Washington as the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle has served in this capacity since the creation of the archdiocese in 1939.
An exclusive look inside America's biggest Jesuit Temple in Washington DC.
The sheer amount of subliminal anti-Christ symbolism the Luciferians use leaves us without doubt at how important the Truth of Jesus Christ the Messiah is, as everything is centered around inverting Him!

STORYLINE:
The Archbishop of Washington together with parishioners voiced their support for Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday amid accusations he perpetuated a climate of cover-up for paedophile priests.
The pontiff and many bishops have been assailed by accusations from victims of clergy sexual abuse that Benedict helped shape and sustain a climate of cover-up toward the crimes against children in parishes, schools, orphanages and other church-run institutions.
Victims and their advocates are demanding that Benedict take personal responsibility.
Some of the congregants attending Easter Mass at St. Matthew''s Cathedral in Washington DC on Sunday said their faith is not shaken by the revelations and that they continue to support the pontiff.
Some others suggested that the Vatican has waited too long to deal with the accusations.
Inside the cathedral, nearly two thousand worshippers gathered participate in the sacrament and to hear the Easter homily.
In his homily, Archbishop Donald Wuerl did not make mention of the accusations.
At the end of the service, he strongly urged congregants to read an editorial printed in the Catholic Standard and re-printed in the church bulletin.
The Catholic Standard is a newspaper for Catholics in the United States.
The editorial urges support for Pope Benedict and to recognise that reported incidents took place decades ago before church policies and legal practices were in place to deal with sexual predators in the clergy.
The archbishop said he felt that there is another whole side to this story that needs to be told.

DC Archbishop: Need 'To Be There' for Survivors
(15 Aug 2018) Cardinal Donald Wuerl, the Archbishop of Washington, faulted in a Pennsylvania grand jury report over his handling of sexually abusive priests as Pittsburgh's bishop, is asking parishioners not to lose confidence in the church and to help victims.
Wuerl, one of the highest-profile Roman Catholic cardinals in the United States, spoke during mass at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington D.C. on the religious feast of the Assumption of Mary.
He said Catholics need to help victims who are suffering and he asked for Mary's intervention for those who lose confidence is shaken because of the terrible plague of abuse.
Wuerl told congregants to pray for the survivors of clergy sex abuse saying, the pain, the suffering is something that we need to accept responsibility for in helping survivors.
The report says Wuerl approved transfers for priests who sexually abused children instead of removing them from ministry and concealed information when priests were reported to law enforcement.
Wuerl made no mention of the allegations, but has previously said he acted diligently to protect children.

28. SOUNDBITE: (English) Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington:
I think people never really leave (the church). They drift away because their caught up in all kinds of things. Sometimes their lives are just so busy. This happens a lot among young people. But at a certain point, people begin to realise there's so much more to life. The whole spiritual dimension. And that's what we're addressing in this whole effort called 'the New Evangelisation' to remind people they have a home. They have a spiritual home.

30. SOUNDBITE: (English) Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington:
We're not surprised that some of our young people aren't really that focused on the life of the spirit, on faith - until they begin to look for it. The seekers, the people that are just saying 'surely there is more to life than just this.' And they're the ones that are showing a real interest.
31. Wide exterior of church
STORYLINE:
Catholic worshippers took part in a Way of the Cross procession across New York's famous Brooklyn Bridge on Good Friday.
Good Friday is the day when Jesus Christ was said to have suffered the pain of crucifixion for the benefit of mankind.
A cross was carried during the procession, symbolising the final hours of Christ's life.
Those taking part then sang hymns and listened to a New York-area bishop speaking about Jesus' death.
There was optimism about the Catholic faith, which has been engulfed in scandals and experiencing dwindling congregations.
I think there's a lot of hope in the Catholic Church in the United States right now, said worshipper Nicholas Penfold.
In Washington, more than a thousand people packed the Cathedral of Saint Matthew the Apostle to hear Cardinal Donald Wuerl, the Archbishop of Washington, say the Good Friday liturgy.
I feel great, said one church attendee, every time I come on a Good Friday I feel renewed.

We're from Boston so we just had the huge child abuse scandal that really wasn't addressed, and I know it's an international church, but it seemed like it was just kind of brushed under the table, so there are lot of folks in the Boston area that are kind of looking for a little closure on that you know, I think from the Vatican and from the pope.

8. Mid shot of Jameson talking to media
9. SOUNDBITE (English): Monsignor Ronald Jameson, Rector of St. Matthew's Cathedral:
The fact that it was a short conclave, that said that the Cardinals really had a consensus there and I think it is leadership of the new Holy Father that will follow in the footsteps of John Paul II and I think that we can see the vision really enunciated clearly because Joseph Ratzinger has a sharp mind, he's an intellectual and he can truly set that vision for the people and then we can get behind him and work away,

11. SOUNDBITE (English): Charlotte Hays, American Catholic from Washington, D.C.:
I am ecstatic. I have been praying for it to be Ratzinger or Arinze and hey, I can't believe it. He is going do to the right thing. He is going to fight relativism. (Reporter: What do you mean by that?) I mean he is going to stand up for dogma. He is going to be a great pope. Oh my God, this is the best ... I can't believe it.
12. Wide shot of exterior of St. Matthews Cathedral
STORYLINE:
Crowds in New York City's Times Square paused on Tuesday afternoon to watch a giant television screen as Pope Benedict XVI made his first public appearance.
Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany was chosen as the Catholic Church's 265th pontiff on Tuesday. He had entered the Vatican conclave a leading candidate to succeed Pope John Paul II.
Catholic Celeste McNamara said that a many church-goers in Boston will be looking for some closure from the next leader of the Catholic church over the sex-abuse scandals that have engulfed the church in the city.
Cardinal Bernard Law resigned as Archbishop of Boston in December 2002 when unsealed court records revealed he had moved predatory priests without notifying parishioners. He has since apologised for his actions.
Pope John Paul II last year appointed Law archpriest of St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome, a ceremonial but highly visible post.
In Washington, D.C., Monsignor Ronald Jameson, the Rector of St. Matthew's Cathedral listened on a transistor radio as the news of Cardinal Ratzinger's election was made public.
Monsignor Jameson and other worshippers welcomed the news of the quick election of the next Pope.
A member of the laity, Charlotte Hays said Ratzinger, who is known for his zeal in enforcing church orthodoxy, is going to stand up for dogma and is going to be a great pope.

Good morning. Before I begin today, I would like to say a word about Pope John Paul the second. His holiness is a faithful servant of god and a champion of human dignity and freedom. He is an inspiration to us all. Laura and I join millions of Americans and so many around the world who are praying for the holy father.
STORYLINE:
Americans continued to pray on Saturday for Pope John Paul II.
In New York City, people gathered at Saint Patrick's Cathedral for a morning mass. Some prayed while others wept for the pope.
Speaking about the pope, Monsignor Eugene Clark told patrons that the pope's impact on the world has been most extraordinary.
Meanwhile in Washington, people gathered at St. Matthews Cathedral to offer their prayers.
US President George W Bush said Pope John Paul II had been a faithful servant of god and a champion of human dignity and freedom.
He is an inspiration to us all, Bush said in his weekly radio address. Laura and I join millions of Americans and so many around the world who are praying for the Holy Father.
The president has received regular briefings about the pontiff's condition since the pope's health began deteriorating on Thursday.
The Vatican, describing the pope's health status as very grave, said he showed the first signs of losing consciousness at dawn on Saturday.
Bush, who was spending the weekend at the White House, was in the Oval Office before 7 a.m. EST(1200 GMT) on Saturday. In addition to getting his usual national security and intelligence briefings, Bush was getting updates on the pope from senior aides, spokesman Ken Lisaius said.

Pope accepts Cardinal Wuerl's resignation letter
(12 Oct 2018) Pope Francis accepted the resignation on Friday of Washington Cardinal Donald Wuerl after he became entangled in two major sexual abuse and cover-up scandals and lost the support of many in his flock.
Cardinal Wuerl presented his resignation to the Pope. Today the Pope accepted it. This is about moving forward, Vatican spokesman Greg Burke told journalists at the Vatican.
In a letter released by Wuerl's office, Francis praised his longtime ally and suggested Wuerl had unfairly become a scapegoat, having made some mistakes in handling sex abuse cases, but not having covered them up.
With the resignation, Wuerl becomes the most prominent head to roll in the scandal roiling the Catholic Church after his predecessor as Washington archbishop, Theodore McCarrick, was forced to resign as cardinal over allegations he sexually abused at least two minors and adult seminarians.
A Vatican statement Friday said Francis had accepted Wuerl's resignation, but named no replacement; Wuerl's office provided the letter in which the pope asked him to stay on in a temporary capacity until a new archbishop is found.
The decision came after months in which Wuerl, who turns 78 in November, initially downplayed the scandal, insisted on his own good record, but then progressively came to the conclusion that he could no longer lead the archdiocese.
In his letter accepting the resignation, Francis said he recognized that in asking to retire, Wuerl had put the interests and unity of his flock ahead of his own ambitions, as all shepherds must do.
Wuerl has not been charged with any wrongdoing but was named numerous times in the grand jury report, which details instances in which he allowed priests accused of misconduct to be reassigned or reinstated.
