A three-hour whale watching tour departs from the Channel Island Harbor where riders will catch a glimpse of ray whales, humpback whales, seals, sea lions, several species of dolphins. For a full day trip, enjoy a landing at the Channel Islands at Anacapa Island or Santa Cruz Island.

My wife and I on a business trip to California for 4 days. We did have one afternoon open and came upon a Whale Watching tour as we checked out the Ventura Harbor. The video is crapy as done with a cell phone. Lots to see of over 200 dolphins, Several Pacific Gray Whales, and Seals this afternoon 1:30 to 5:00. Whale Watching is December through March.

Great White Shark, Ventura California
Great White Shark feeding on the carcass of a dead whale. We filmed this on our way back to port after a day of ghost trap removal in the channel islands with Ocean Defenders Alliance. oceandefenders.org. This was a large male shark, as evidenced by its size relative to a 30 foot whale carcass. He circled cautiously for 10 to 15 minutes, then would cruise in and take a huge bite, then go back to circling. The very first shot is a pass he made by the camera just after we lowered it into the water. He seemed to be investigating the sound of the splash. This was filmed off the coast of California, between Ventura and Anacapa Island.
