Łazienki Królewskie - a palace and garden complex in Warsaw founded in the 18th century by Stanisław August Poniatowski .
The name comes from the Baroque pavilion of Łaźnia, erected in the 1880s by Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski and rebuilt by Stanisław August Poniatowski to the Na Wyspie palace [2] . In addition to buildings, pavilions and free-standing sculptures, there are four gardens: Royal, Romantic, Modernist and Chinese .
Poland: Warsaw, Lazienki Park (Part 4)
Lazienki Park ... the largest park in Warsaw, occupying 80 hectares of the city center. The park lies in Warsaw's Downtown (Sródmiescie), on Ujazdów Avenue (Aleje Ujazdowskie), on the Royal Route linking the Royal Castle with Wilanów to the south. Lazienki Park was established in the 17th century by Tylman van Gameren, in the baroque style, for Stanislaw Lubomirski. It took the name Lazienki (Baths) from a bathing pavilion that was located there. In 1764 the gardens were acquired, after his election as King of Poland, by Stanislaw August Poniatowski.
Palac na Wodzie or Palac Lazienkowski (Palace on the Water) ... also called the Palace on the Isle, was established in the 17th century by Tylman van Gameren for Stanislaus Lubomirski. From 1772 to 1793 Dominik Merlini altered the building for Stanislaus August Poniatowski, who made it his residence. The bath house was formed in Chinese style. The park now a beautiful medley of architectural styles was then graced with relief's and painted Dutch tiles. Its furniture and paintings belong to the Classicist style. The appearance is dominated by an Attika, carried by columns, statues of mythological figures. The palace by the park is on an artificial island on the Lazienki Lake, and is connected by two arcade bridges to the rest of the park. The long Lazienki lake is divided by the palace in two parts, into a smaller northern lake and a bigger southern lake. On the ground floor of the palace is the so-called Bacchus-room, the royal baths, the ballroom, the portrait cabinet, the Salomonsaal, the rotunda with the figures of the Polish kings, the lower picture gallery which contains minor works by Rubens and Rembrandt, and the chapel.
Fountain - Saxon Garden, Warsaw
The Saxon Garden was originally the site of Warsaw fortifications, Sigismund's Ramparts, and of a palace built in 1666 for the powerful aristocrat, Jan Andrzej Morsztyn. The fountain was huge and beautiful. I stayed at an apartment across the street from the park in what was the Warsaw Ghetto. I have a photo album of my stay in Warsaw at

Timelapse: Wroclaw, Poland - Japanese Gardens
Ogród, Japoński
Shot on my short holiday to Poland last year.
The Japanese garden is a relic from the 1913 World Fair in Wroclaw. It was created and laid out by a Japanese culture lover, Count Fritz von Hochberg, helped by a Japanese gardener, Mankichi Arai. In the following years, the garden was not well taken care of and some of the elements that were lent for the World Fair were removed and the garden lost part of its Japanese character.
In 1994, the city of Wroclaw decided to renovate it with the support of the Japanese embassy in Warsaw. Japanese professionals from the city of Nagoya worked at its renovation.
Many new elements were added with respect to the original form. The result is exceptional and it is now a real masterpiece. Each element of the garden has its own meaning, that will not be understood by most novice visitors.
Highlight of the garden are the two waterfalls. The male one with its rapid flow and the female one, which flows on three intermediate levels. The water from the two waterfalls flows towards a pond.

Palace on the Water. The Palace on the Water (Polish: Pałac na Wodzie), also called the Łazienki Palace (Pałac Łazienkowski) and the Palace on the Island (Pałac na Wyspie), was built in the 17th century by Tylman van Gameren for Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski. Between 1772 and 1793 it was remodeled by Domenico Merlini for King Stanisław August Poniatowski, who made it his residence.
The original bathhouse was built in a Chinese style. The building, now a beautiful mixture of architectural styles, was then graced with reliefs and painted Dutch tiles.

The palace's furniture and paintings belong to the Classicist style. The building is dominated by an attika supported by columns, and featuring statues of mythological figures.
The palace stands on an artificial island in Łazienki Lake, and is connected to the rest of the park by two arcaded bridges. The long Łazienki Lake is divided by the palace into two parts, a smaller northern lake and a larger southern one.
The palace's ground floor includes the Bacchus room, royal baths, a ballroom, a portrait gallery, the Solomon Room, a rotunda with figures of Polish kings, a lower picture gallery which contains minor works by Rubens and Rembrandt, and a chapel. Also on the ground floor is a dining room which hosted the famous Thursday dinners to which Stanisław August Poniatowski invited leading artists, writers and politicians.
The first floor contains the royal apartments, an upper picture gallery, a balcony room, the king's study, the royal bedchambers, a cloakroom, and an officer's room. The Palace on the Water was burned after the 1944 Warsaw Uprising by the Germans but German plans to blow up the palace were never carried out. It was rebuilt after World War II.

Warsaw University Rooftop Garden | Warsaw Local
The Biblioteka Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego (BUW) or the Warsaw University Library building was opened in December of 1999 and the Library garden in June, 2002. One of the largest and most beautiful roof gardens in Europe, the Biblioteka Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego (BUW) or the Warsaw University Library encompasses two garden areas – an upper area of 2,000 m2, and a lower area of 15,000 m2 – linked by a fountain of cascading water. The roof garden setting offers sweeping views of Warsaw, the Vistula river and the Świętokrzyski Bridge.
The roof garden of the Library of the University of Warsaw is an experimental project. It is the first and largest roof garden established in Poland of its kind. It offers exceptional views to the Vistula River, fragments of the natural declivity, and the buildings situated downhill. The variety of the scenes created and beauty of the panorama remain the greatest values of this place.
The design concept falls into the formation of several separate, yet conjoined gardens. The functional and spacial divisions, outlined by the skylights, technical equipment and entrances to the roof (platform, off-ramp), were inspired by the idea of creating varied garden spaces differing with spirit, colors, forms and scents. The Warsaw University Library has various slopes for each section of the roof; there are flat parts sloped 0-2% and also pitched areas up to 100%.

Hi beautiful friends! I hope you are well today ♡ I'm so excited to share with you my adventures in amazing Krakow, Poland, for the first time!
